Position Description: Quality System Manager

We are seeking a transformative leader to serve as the primary architect of our Quality Management System. In this role, you will bridge the gap between rigorous engineering standards and shop-floor execution, ensuring our electrical distribution equipment meets the highest benchmarks of safety and reliability. You won't just be managing a checklist; you will be building a culture where quality is a shared responsibility, directly impacting on our ability to power critical infrastructure across the globe.

Primary Duties:

  • Lead the design, modernization, and long-term architecture of the company’s Quality Management System, transforming it into a streamlined, intuitive, and scalable framework that supports rapid manufacturing.
  • Bridge rigorous engineering standards with practical shop-floor execution, ensuring quality expectations are clearly translated, consistently applied, and fully understood across all levels of production.
  • Drive a shift from reactive quality control to proactive quality assurance, enabling issues to be identified and resolved at the point of origin.
  • Reduce late-stage defects, rework, and test failures by implementing systems, training, and processes that prevent problems before they occur.
  • Build strong partnerships with production, engineering, and operations teams, positioning Quality as a collaborative enabler of speed, precision, and problem-solving.
  • Establish a culture where quality is a shared responsibility, with operators, technicians, and engineers demonstrating increased ownership and accountability.
  • Maintain a state of continuous audit readiness by embedding compliance into daily workflows, ensuring internal and external audits are passed with minimal disruption.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making within the QMS, using trends and insights to prioritize improvements and guide operational strategy.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration

Skills & Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering
  • 3-5+ years specifically managing or owning a Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, audits, and system modernization
  • Strong background in ISO 9001, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement

Essential Job Functions:

Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes while maintaining compliance to design specifications.

Programming of equipment, creation of CNC code, and tool path simulation.

Primary contact for design engineering or program management on manufacturing processes.

Creates and maintains manufacturing methods, Bill of Materials, and labor standards in ERP system.

Participates in activities related to C.I. and cost reductions/process improvements.

Design, construction, and validation of tooling, fixtures, gages, and equipment.

Workflow / cell design with a focus on waste reduction and process improvement.

Analysis of manufacturing variances to help identify key areas in need of improvement.

Troubleshoot and solve manufacturing problems in a machining environment.

Support Supply Chain and Quality with supplier development activities as needed.

Mentor/guide lower level manufacturing engineers.

Support customer complaints and concerns.

Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.

Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.

Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.

Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.


Qualifications:

5-10 years manufacturing engineering experience.

Minimum 5 years CAD and CAM software experience required. Mastercam preferred.

AutoCAD Inventor 3D modelling or similar software required.

Vericut experience preferred.

Ability to read and interpret complex 2D blueprints and 3D models required.

Working knowledge of GD&T required.

Experience with tooling selection and fixture design required.

Knowledge of both manual and CNC machining equipment, specifically multi-axis (5+) programming experience.

Hands on troubleshooting & problem solving including statistical analysis.

Ability to implement change and train employees in a production floor environment.

Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.

Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.

Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.

May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.


Education:

LayerZero Power Systems is seeking an experienced and highly organized Buyer/Planner to join our team. As the Buyer/Planner, you will be primarily responsible for the ongoing procurement and negotiation of materials, components, equipment, supplies, and services that meet the company's quality standards. This includes sourcing and managing both ferrous & non-ferrous metals used in our manufacturing processes.

In this role, you will evaluate and analyze supplier quotes, negotiate prices, maintain strong vendor relationships, and ensure timely delivery of orders. You will assume full responsibility for planning requirements and supply chain management to ensure scheduled deliveries of goods and services within budget and/or standard costs. Requirements

Primary Duties:

  • Purchase parts, equipment, and materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, by preparing requests for quotations and submitting purchase orders with approved suppliers.
  • Issue purchase orders and agreements that accurately reflect price, schedule, terms, and conditions as negotiated with suppliers.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Process personnel to plan, schedule, and manage rough-cut production capacity load to ensure maximum on-time delivery.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of open purchase orders, quotes, and work orders, including lead times for assigned commodities.
  • Monitor and evaluate production performance to plan and supplier performance. Advise appropriate personnel of production issues or impending supplier failures that may delay production or delivery.
  • Resolve shipment quality discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issues, including those related to metal specifications and quality standards.
  • Facilitate resolution of issues by arranging and participating in conferences between suppliers and company personnel.
  • Maintain schedules, records, and reports pertaining to tracking materials through the production cycle and availability of production resources.
  • Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
  • Assist in executing system transactions needed to support the receipt, storage, and transfer of material.
  • Manage inventory levels, generate tracking reports, and perform data entry as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and provide suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in supplier site visits and evaluate them for production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria. May complete supplier certification as part of a technical and/or quality team.

Experience & Skills:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in buying, planning, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fabricated metals and coatings processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, detail orientation, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • APICS/ISM certification (CPIM, CSCP, CPSM) a plus.

Once you’ve completed training and built a solid book of business, TQL will pay to relocate you again to any of our 60+ offices nationwide. What you'll do:

  • Receive 6 months of direct training from experienced Logistics Account Executives
  • Help your account executive solve customer needs, find carriers for time-sensitive freight and manage daily operations
  • Participate in hands-on and virtual training sessions
  • Develop negotiation skills through prospecting and cold calling
  • Build your book
  • Use your training to meet sales metrics and become eligible for commission
  • Establish relationships to close new customers
  • Negotiate prices with customers and carriers
  • Resolve freight issues to ensure timely pickup and delivery
