Overview

Under supervision, the Lead Radiologic Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care and work flow in RT area to ensure safe and effective patient care. Responsibilities

Performs all essential functions of the X-Ray Technologist. Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians in Radiography. Oversees the patient schedule and workflow to maximum efficiency as established by department benchmarking. Coordinates staff coverage during unexpected high exam volumes as well as minimizing staff in times of low volumes. Performs or has input in staff scheduling and timecard edits based on the department guidelines. Participates in QA/QC programs. Directs personnel in maintaining standards set out by accrediting bodies, licensures and safety guidelines. Participates in scheduling of department's technical equipment service and/or maintenance. Develops training programs and evaluates technical skills of staff. Responsible for ensuring staff has completed new employee and annual employee competencies. Recommends to the coordinator/manager/director personnel actions for hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures of staff. Participates in submitting information and imaging for accreditation following department guidelines for accreditation processing. Responsible for reporting timely updates to one up on progress. Aids in the annual review and periodic updates of department policies and protocols. Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. Responsibilities

Rooming patients: Collecting pertinent information regarding the patient's chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Health Care Technician (HCT) functions as a support to the licensed nursing staff and performs activities related to the personal care, hygiene needs, and activities of daily living of an assigned patient group. The Health Care Technician (HCT) NICU is responsible for the preparation and delivery of all infant feedings. Preparation techniques must adhere to all sanitary regulation and standards established by regulating agencies and the healthcare facility. Other duties include maintaining supplies and inventory for the formula room, operating all equipment needed for feeding preparation and breast milk administration, and adhering to unit specific quality assurance standards for breast milk.

The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute. The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study. The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing vascular access point; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.

All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.

Assists with inventory/supplies.

Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.

Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.

Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.

Documents accurately and completely according to established policies and procedures.

Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.

Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist.

Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.

Department Specific Job Function

Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.

Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate. Assess patients for allergies.

Can pull supplies for procedures.

Takes call in within 6 months.

Cardiac Cath Lab work including left heart cath, with/without coronary stenting, right heart cath, pericardiocentesis, and vascular access under sterile procedure.

Structural Heart Procedures to include TAVR, Watchman, Mitraclip, Triclip, ASD/PFO and CardioMEMs.

Hybrid Peripheral Vascular work in coordination with vascular surgery to include EVAR, TCAR, and TEVAR.

Adjunctive tools to complete the above procedures including but not limited to ICUS, FFR/iFR, Lithotripsy, Laser, Rota, Impella, IABP, OCT, and CTO.

Overview

The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The Carle Cath Lab performs many exciting and innovative procedures including, but not limited to: Diagnostic Cardiac Cath, PTCA interventions, TAVR, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, MitraClip, as well as peripheral vascular procedures including Peripheral Angiography, Peripheral PTA. Staff are responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the Prep/Recovery and Procedure Lab staff to facilitate excellent patient care. The HVI offers several unique opportunities for personal and professional growth, flexible staffing options (i.e. cross-training, job sharing, minimal on-call shifts), HVI MD Lecture series (which includes free CEUs for staff), mentoring program (to support new hires and transfers), and educational events with various HVI equipment and procedural training (i.e. Shockwave, CoroFlow, Structural Heart Program).

Responsibilities

Evaluate and enhance your own nursing practice by utilizing the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope and Standards of Practice to provide 1:1 patient care to adult patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Administer moderate sedation and other medications in a safe manner by following Carle Policies. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution. Perform hemodynamic monitoring, identify potential life-threatening arrhythmias, and implement appropriate clinical treatment. Collaborate with patients and families to answer questions and provide emotional support when needed. Enhance patient care activities and act as a safety advocate through participation in ongoing department quality improvement and evidence-based practice projects. Coordinate safe care delivery through effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team. Recognize and adapt to potential changes in procedures while responding to emergent situations. Participate in a fun, supportive, collaborative environment while working as part of a cohesive 3-4 staff team, comprised of Registered Nurses and Radiology Technologists.
