Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to serve as an Engineering lead for a space mission payload critical to our nation to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This role includes Engineering and project management through all phases of the program, from concept development and industry trade study preliminary and detailed design, payload integration & test, space vehicle integration and test and potentially on-orbit demonstration.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your mission, should you choose to accept:

• Functioning as the primary payload interface for customers, program management, product line engineering leadership, mission assurance and subsystem engineering teams
• Providing Technical Support / Oversight including
  • Conducting technical trades in coordination with the Mission and Space Vehicle SE teams
  • Ownership of payload specs and requirements traceability 
  • Developing and managing Interface-Control Documents (ICD) between the prime and sub-contractor
  • Playing a key role in major program milestone and readiness reviews
  • Planning, design, and execution of testing strategies to ensure payload qualification, exercise payload functionality and measure performance
  • Supporting the development of operational mission scenarios and payload concepts of operations

• Payload sub-contractor oversight, including cost and schedule performance including
  • Review / Tech Eval of subcontractor proposals
  • Cost account manager (CAM) for Payload WBSs using EVMS
  • Recognizing and mitigating payload related issues and risks

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Executive Administrative Assistant to provide high-level administrative and operational support to senior leadership.

In this role, you will act as a trusted administrative partner, supporting executives and engineering teams by managing calendars, coordinating operational activities, and ensuring the smooth functioning of daily office operations. You will also support the organization’s expanding robotics and research initiatives through procurement coordination, onboarding support, and cross-team administrative collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Support

• Provide high-level administrative support to senior leaders and executives.
• Manage complex executive calendars, scheduling meetings, resolving conflicts, and coordinating across teams.
• Prepare meeting agendas, documents, and presentations.

Team and Operational Support

• Provide administrative support to engineering and research teams.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities and ensure smooth communication between teams.
• Serve as “boots-on-the-ground” operational support for team members onsite.

Procurement and Vendor Coordination

• Coordinate procurement activities including purchase orders (POs), vendor communication, and equipment tracking.
• Support ordering and management of lab equipment and computer hardware for robotics and engineering teams.

Onboarding Support

• Assist with onboarding new team members as the organization expands.
• Coordinate onboarding logistics including workspace setup, equipment, and access to systems.

Office Administration

• Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining records, and managing documentation.
• File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports.
• Manage information requests and distribute communications appropriately.

Event and Meeting Coordination

• Organize and coordinate internal meetings, leadership sessions, and team events.
• Prepare agendas and logistical arrangements for committee or leadership meetings.

Administrative Collaboration

• Partner with other executive assistants across the organization to support cross-divisional initiatives.
• Provide backup coverage for other executive assistants when needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5–7 years of administrative or executive assistant experience, preferably supporting senior leadership.
• Proven experience managing complex executive calendars.
• Strong proficiency in Office tools, including:
• Word
• Excel
• PowerPoint
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working within a large technology organization.
• Experience supporting engineering or technical teams.
• Familiarity with procurement processes, vendor management, and equipment tracking.
• Experience coordinating on boarding and team events.

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree preferred

• 10+ years of B2B sales experience, with significant experience selling into the data center industry
  
• Proven success managing and growing large, complex strategic accounts
  
• Demonstrated experience selling construction, commissioning, controls, or technical services in mission-critical environments
  
• Strong understanding of data center delivery models, buying cycles, and stakeholder dynamics
  
• Track record of closing multi-million-dollar deals and managing long sales cycles
  
• Exceptional executive presence, communication, and negotiation skills
