The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Education (GPE) is a unit of the Office of the Provost with a mission that supports Georgia Tech's mission by providing services, advocacy, and

Job Summary
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who will work under the guidance of Dr. Gaeun (Gwenn) Seo, Director of Graduate Career Development in the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate and Postdoctoral Education at Georgia Institute of Technology. The postdoc will contribute to a multi-year, federally funded research initiative that examines how industry-engaged graduate funding structures shape Ph.D. student success, faculty research environments, and institutional policy. This project will examine industry-engaged flexible graduate funding models that combine traditional funding mechanisms (e.g., research assistantships, fellowships) with externally supported funding, such as internships and industry-sponsored appointments. The study will compare outcomes for Ph.D. students in these flexible funding arrangements with regard to financial security, research engagement, career decision-making, and time to degree, as well as impacts on faculty research strategies, mentoring practices, and institutional policies. Using a mixed-methods design, the project will integrate surveys, interviews, and longitudinal institutional data across STEM disciplines and stakeholder groups.
The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in this work, with primary supervision provided by Dr. Seo and additional input from the projects PI/CoPIs. The postdoc will contribute to the design and implementation of data collection instruments, conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, and synthesize findings to generate evidence-based insights that inform institutional decision-making. Through regular engagement with the research team, the postdoc will support the translation of empirical results into scholarly publications and actionable guidance for institutions seeking sustainable and scalable approaches to graduate education funding.
This is a two-year, renewable position contingent on performance. The postdoc will receive research and professional development mentoring and, as time permits, may pursue related projects and develop an independent line of scholarship aligned with the broader research agenda.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities -
- Design, pilot, and implement quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments (surveys, interview guides) in collaboration with the research team and an external research consultant.
- Conduct data cleaning and management and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, including longitudinal institutional datasets
- Apply statistical modeling techniques (e.g., regression, factor analysis, SEM) and qualitative coding methods.
- Contribute to manuscripts, conference presentations, and public dissemination of findings.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with faculty, administrators, and external partners.
- Support IRB coordination and ensure compliance with NSF data management and human subjects protocols.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Education, Educational Psychology, Higher Education, Human Resource Development, Learning Sciences, Educational Policy, or a related field (degree must be completed by appointment date).
- Demonstrated expertise in mixed-methods research, with strong quantitative analysis skills.
- Experience designing or implementing surveys and analyzing large datasets
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, MATLAB, or Python)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing manuscripts or reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and research partners in higher education settings.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in implementing educational research in higher education
* Knowledge of higher education research, graduate education, or workforce development.
* Experience in longitudinal or institutional data analysis.
Proposed Salary
Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Anticipated Start: Preferably June 2026; no later than August 1, 2026.
Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

After more than four years of planning and groundwork, the ambitious Tech Square Phase 3 (TS3) initiative is well underway. With two impressive towers at its core connected by a shared elevator, the TS3 project, slated to finish in 2026, encompasses 416,500 square feet and includes a large outdoor plaza for street-level retail.

- Identify the primary constraint, implement finite-scheduling tactics, and drive continuous-improvement projects that reduce “fire-drill” disruptions.
- Draft and standardize SOPs, prepping the organization for its future ERP/MRP implementation and ISO 9001 re-certification.
- Champion a safety-first, quality-focused culture consistent with high-mix, low-volume capital-equipment environments.
Skill Set:
- 5+ years of manufacturing‐leadership experience in engineer-to-order, custom machinery, automation, or other high-mix / low-volume settings.
- Track record establishing finite scheduling, capacity planning, and material-planning processes (MRP/ERP familiarity strongly preferred).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 (AS9100 exposure a plus) and hands-on success driving quality-system improvements.
- Working fluency with Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and comfort navigating data-light environments (e.g., QuickBooks-only back office).

The Role We Want You For

The Specifics of the Role

The Role We Want You For
As an MEP Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and associated construction scopes for Clayco projects. This includes the development of comprehensive MEP scope documents, the creation of MEP bid packages in the early stages of project planning, and leading subcontractor negotiations. About The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering
The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering is a department within the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech and the School of Medicine at Emory University. Our community includes a student body of ~1,200 undergraduates and ~400 graduate students as well as more than 150 faculty and staff. One of the largest BME programs in the US, we graduate the most URM and Female biomedical engineers in the country. The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering is hiring for an Academic Faculty (Academic Professional Track) position titled Director of Learning Innovation (DLI). A position of this type, with slightly varying titles, throughout the history of the department by 5 different people. Success in this position involves achieving three objectives: (1) Foster a culture of evidence-based teaching practices and curricular innovation, (2) improve our understanding of engineering education using educational research methods, and (3) build the national profile of the department as a leader in biomedical engineering education. We expect the focus of work in this role to be primarily the department's top ranked undergraduate program, but engaging with the graduate program may also be possible or needed. We estimate the breakdown of the Director of Learning Innovation to be approximately 15% research; 35% administration; 30% teaching and 20% service, detailed below.
Responsibilities
TEACHING (30%)
We expect the DLI's teaching responsibility to be serving as the course director for Problems in Biomedical Engineering (BMED2250). BMED2250, typically taken undergraduate's second year, uses a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach to guide students through the development of potential solutions to a broad single-disease-focused design challenge. A similar course has been a cornerstone of the department's undergraduate curriculum since its establishment and are described in work by Newstetter (2006). The course is offered during Fall and Spring semesters and enrolls around 150 students per semester in 5 to 6 `studio sections with a weekly lecture. Critically, the course also serves to enculturate faculty to the department's philosophy of teaching. The course director is responsible for overall coordination of course instruction, managing the lecture portion of the class, training TAs and Faculty facilitators, and typically facilitating 1 studio section. Depending on the candidates background and interests, other teaching assignments may be possible.
ADMINISTATION (35%)
Achieving the three objectives for the DLI position will require the candidate to integrate curricular leadership and educational research. As a departmental leader, the DLI is responsible for identifying and guiding opportunities for curricular improvements, especially through the translation of leading educational research. They will also mentor individual faculty throughout the department about teaching, evidence-based teaching, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research. To do so, the DLI will work closely with other leaders in the department, TT and NTT faculty, and the Director of Faculty and Student Training.
RESEARCH (15%)
The DLI will also be expected to engage in research and research dissemination. A major focus of that work is likely to be scholarship related to their innovation work. However, they are encouraged to pursue related research independent of active innovation projects as well. Successful candidates will be those that look for both traditional and novel opportunities for scholarly dissemination. We have a special interest in candidates who can build strong relationships to share research results and promote our innovation work across Georgia Tech, biomedical engineering, and engineering education. The DLI will be encouraged to pursue external funding both to support programmatic change efforts and their own research. The department has a history of receiving funding from NIH, NSF, and KEEN to support programmatic curricular change efforts.
SERVICE (20%)
All department faculty are assigned to one to two departmental committees. It is expected that the DLI will be routinely assigned as a member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and/or the departments Faculty Learning Committee (a yearly community of practice faculty development opportunity). The DLI will also be encouraged to pursue opportunities for professional service.

- Academic Professional. This rank requires a terminal degree. It also requires significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional. Ordinarily at least three (3) years as an Associate Academic Professional is required before promotion to the rank of Academic Professional. - Senior Academic Professional. This rank requires a terminal degree. - Knowledge of applicable design standards covering Automation & Controls Design/Engineering such as NFPA, ISA, IEC, IEEE, ISA/IEC 61511, ISO13849, UL508A
- Experienced with variety of control and safety systems (PLC, SCADA, SIS, BMS, DCS)
- Experience in Rockwell and Siemens PLC platform. Experience in GE, Modicon, Opto22, Mitsubishi, and Triconex PLC platforms a plus
- SCADA experience with Factory Talk and Wonderware local and distributed systems, Ignition Software is a plus

Senior Automation & Controls Engineer - Food & Beverage Description:
- Responsible for compliance with company and project site safety policies
- Design responsibility for all Automation and Controls scope on the project
- Leads a team of Automation and Controls Engineers, Specialists, and Designers in the execution of design
- Interfaces with a multi-faceted project team internally consisting of project manager, electrical, controls, estimating, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines
- Responsible for leading and developing software design deliverables including PLC and HMI programming design deliverables as well as Batch, MES, servers and virtualization
- Responsible for commissioning and startup of those design deliverables
- Lead and prepare controls design deliverables, including instrument/device list, I/O list, controls narratives, control panel and controls hardware design, device location plan drawings and installation details
- Lead the specification, design, and procurement activities for control panel and equipment vendors, manage vendor progression, and lead the Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
- Lead and prepare electrical design deliverables including 480VAC and below equipment and motor power design, installation plan drawings, and conductor schedules
- Determine process instrument measurements protocols, such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting the appropriate controls application
- Experienced in reviewing P&IDs and working with process engineers to define and show proper controls scope of the project
- Develop and manage verification of design, calculations, project studies and report preparation
- Interfaces directly with offsite design office and coordinates and tracks execution of controls deliverables to that office
- Responsible for leading and performing quality reviews of project design submittals and coordinating those reviews within the department
- Responsible for applying knowledge of commonly used automation and controls engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the engineering services industry
- Interfaces directly with construction personnel in development of contracts and execution of work
- Develops project estimates at each project phase through various software such as Proposal works, Integrated Architecture Builder (IAB), SIL Solver, Bluebeam, Excel, and Visio
- Supports project manager in the development and tracking of automation and controls project budgets and expected progress
- Works with clients and vendors directly in developing design

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking skilled Make-Ready Designers (primary focus) and Power Distribution Designers to support engineering programs for major electric and telecom utilities. Ideal candidates bring demonstrated experience in overhead utility pole design , NESC application , clearance assessment , pole loading analysis , and construction package development . Useful design platforms include DDS , Katapult , O-Calc , GIS , MicroStation , AutoCAD , or client-specific drafting systems.
In this role, you will review field/walkout data , evaluate existing attachment conditions , model pole loading , determine make-ready requirements , and prepare accurate construction-ready deliverables . Applicants without utility pole design or distribution engineering experience will not be considered.
Note : This position is remote, but new hires must attend a 2-week paid, in-person orientation at our Perrysburg, OH headquarters.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Requirements:
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• High school diploma or equivalent required ; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or a related field is preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make-ready engineering , joint-use design , or electric power distribution design (3+ years strongly preferred)
• Proven experience in utility pole design , including NESC application , clearance analysis , pole loading concepts , and preparation of construction-ready design packages
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation ; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar utility design platforms is strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of power distribution construction practices , with the ability to learn utility-specific proprietary systems efficiently
• Must hold a valid driver’s license , maintain active auto insurance , and pass all required background, drug, and MVR screenings
• Authorization to work in the United States is required
• Willingness to travel occasionally, including minimal overnight travel when project needs require
• Ability to work a standard Monday–Friday schedule aligned to Eastern Time , with Central/Mountain/Pacific adjustments as appropriate
