Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision and other structural and system components, working from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures.

JOB SUMMARY:

THE CONTEXT
PEMBs are a highly technical product that requires a level of engineering effort to generate an accurate proposal to secure project awards in a highly competitive market. In the past, we have relied on our production engineering team to support our sales efforts. We are looking for an experienced metal building engineer that enjoys solving difficult design problems (we don’t build boxes, check out our project gallery on our website) using the best tools available in the industry, all in a collaborative, challenging, and team-based sales process. This role reports directly to the CEO of the company, who is also the Sales Leader, and will be a key partner in enabling the continued growth and success of our business. THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Metal Building Engineer to serve as THE technical resource on our sales team. In this role, you will use your knowledge of metal building system design, with tools like Metal Building Software (MBS), RISA 3D, Enercalc and others, to develop accurate estimates, preliminary designs, and cost-effective solutions for pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), steel structures, and related systems. You will create preliminary material takeoffs (using our internally-developed automated tools) and Excel summaries as part of a broader estimating effort (Hint: this is a team role and is very collaborative). Additionally, you will support our outside sales and business development activities with the generation of building concepts, schematic designs, and general technical guidance. Success in this role is defined as owning and delivering the technical aspects of our overall sales process.
(NOTE: This is a true engineering role, not a sales role. This role will not have to carry a sales quota.)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare accurate and competitive metal building preliminary designs, and material takeoffs using industry-standard software (e.g., Metal Building Software (MBS), Tekla Structures, RISA 3D, Enercalc, CFS, Bluebeam Revu, and Excel)
- Perform preliminary structural design and layout of pre-engineered metal building systems, including complex framing, hybrid structures, and conventional steel buildings
- Ensure all estimates and designs comply with current building codes, local regulations, wind/seismic loads, and company engineering standards
- Collaborate closely with MBI outside sales executives, customers, architects, engineers, and contractors to understand project requirements, provide technical recommendations, and offer value-engineering suggestions to optimize cost, performance, and constructability
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert during customer meetings, presentations, and site visits; explain product features, structural capabilities, material options, and system benefits clearly and persuasively
- Support the full sales cycle: respond to RFQs/RFPs, conduct technical discovery, deliver product demonstrations, prepare proposals, and assist in negotiations to close deals
- Review and interpret architectural/engineering drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop tailored solutions
- Provide post-sale technical support to facilitate handing off the project to our operations teams for execution
- Stay current on industry trends, new products, building codes, and competitive offerings; contribute competitive intelligence to the team
- Collaborate with MBI’s Director of Engineering on internal best practices to improve the design, performance and efficiency of our tools and processes related to design and engineering tasks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with experience in the Structural discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; SE is NOT required for this position
- 7+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years in metal building design
- Proficiency in metal building design software (MBS) required
- Familiarity with 3D tools such as Revit, Tekla, or SketchUp required
- Solid understanding of structural steel design principles, building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC), load calculations, and metal building components/systems

Work Environment
Navy Physicians work in a variety of settings, including military medical facilities, ships, and field hospitals, both domestically and internationally. As a Navy Physician, you can work at one of the highly acclaimed National Naval Medical Centers in Bethesda, MD; Portsmouth, VA; and San Diego, CA. You might even provide medical support to deployed troops aboard one of two dedicated hospital ships-the USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy. Still more opportunities are available aboard a surface ship, working closely with a nearby aircraft squadron, or with the Fleet Marine Force. Reserve Physicians primarily drill one weekend a month at a location near their home.
Training & Advancement
Upon graduation from medical school, those pursuing a Physician position are required to attend Officer Development School (ODS) in Newport, RI. ODS is a five-week program that provides a comprehensive and intense introduction to the responsibilities of Navy Staff Corps Officers. Here they learn about the military structure of the U.S. Navy, its rich history of traditions and customs, leadership development and military etiquette.
Once that training is complete, you will learn the ins and outs of life as a Navy Physician at your first assignment.
Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.

Education Opportunities
The Navy offers generous scholarships, financial assistance and continuing education programs, allowing you to finish your education with little or no debt.

For Students:
The Navy may pay for your medical education, and you don't need to attend a military medical school. Attend a school of your choice and you may emerge debt-free. With the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), you may receive 100% tuition coverage during medical school, plus a monthly stipend, reimbursement of expenses and up to $20,000 sign-on bonus. With the Navy Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) , you may receive from $157,000 to $269,000 while attending medical school. This includes a monthly military salary, a housing allowance, and a comprehensive health care benefits package.
For Residents:
Residents may get supplemental income in medical residency through the Navy Financial Assistance Program (FAP), which may offer you $275,000 or more during your medical residency, including an annual $45,000 grant, a monthly stipend and reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.
For Practicing Physicians:
Practicing physicians can receive a sign-on bonus of up to $800,000 if they qualify.

Qualifications & Requirements
A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement to become a Commissioned Officer. You must also attend Officer Training. There may be exceptions to the degree requirements based on extensive service experience. Additional qualifications include:
* Be a U.S. citizen currently practicing in the U.S.
* Be a graduate of an eligible medical school accredited by the AMA or the AOA
* Have completed one year of graduate-level medical education in a program approved by the AMA or AOA (interns currently in training may also apply)
* Have an MD or DO degree
* Have a current state medical license within one year of entering the Navy Medical Corps
* Be willing to serve a minimum of two years of Active Duty
* Be between the ages of 21 and 64 (qualified candidates over the age of 64 will be considered on a case-by-case basis)

US Navy Reserve Medicine
Serving part-time as a Reservist, your duties will be conducted during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Physicians in the Reserve typically drill at a location close to their homes. This gives the flexibility to expand your medical experiences in the Navy without compromising your civilian practice at home.
Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent.
Furthermore, serving as a Reservist physician allows for unique and exciting experiences beyond patient care. Career-long learning in areas within and beyond medicine is both the goal and expectation. You will have the opportunity to shape policy, teach, lead and mentor young men and women, and, if you choose to do so, potentially fly with aviators, sail on ships, dive with the submariners, and/or serve alongside Marines and special operators.
Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians serve essential roles as critical wartime specialists in the military healthcare system. These efforts have contributed to unprecedented survival rates in the recent Afghanistan and Persian Gulf conflicts. The position collaborates with suppliers, customers, and site leadership to identify opportunities, conduct research, and develop improvements related to welding processes.
Key responsibilities include monitoring welding performance metrics, applying root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and maintaining all welding-related records and documentation in accordance with quality requirements.
Essential Functions Reports directly to the Operational Excellence Manager with a dotted-line to the Welding Management Team.
Works closely with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Safety.
Manages the site welding personnel, including the weld instructor and welding technicians.
Participates in daily production meetings to ensure welding KPIs are achieved and sustained.
Travels locally up to 20% of the time.
Maintains strong working knowledge of AWS Codes (D1.1, D1.2, D1.4, D1.5) and CSA standards.
Creates, approves, and maintains welding procedures, work instructions, and related documentation.
Interviews and evaluates welding candidates to determine skill levels.
Provides one-on-one coaching and training to both new and experienced welding staff.
Supports qualification and training activities for welding personnel, including recordkeeping.
Offers technical support for customer issues, third party audits, and internal site concerns.
Reviews QA data, performs root cause analysis, and drives corrective actions for welding processes.
Conducts process audits to verify compliance and performance.
Additional Role Responsibilities Improves welding management KPIs.
Identifies and eliminates waste within welding operations.
Optimizes welding processes and joint design to maximize efficiency.
Implements mistake proofing (Poka Yoke) solutions.
Reviews product designs to improve manufacturability.
Monitors and reduces welding consumable usage through continuous improvement.
Ensures all welding equipment meets compliance and safety requirements.
Possesses knowledge and experience with multiple welding processes, including: GMAW FCAW SMAW SAW GTAW (as applicable) HLAW (as applicable) HFRW (as applicable) Oxyfuel & Plasma cutting, and Laser cutting Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 6+ years relevant experience, Associate's degree with 8+ years experience, or 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Ability to obtain CWI, CWE, and CWS certifications.
Prior training or instructional experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively present and instruct groups of varying sizes in classroom or shop environments.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to all company safety policies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
Preferred Qualifications At least 5 years of leadership experience.
Ability to obtain CWB Welding Supervisor accreditation.
