- Inspect radiographic equipment prior to examinations to ensure proper functionality and report malfunctions to the physician or technical supervisor.
- Prepare examination rooms by ensuring sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment are available and properly arranged.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain cleanliness of imaging rooms and work areas.
- Greet and assist patients arriving in the department, verify appointments, answer phone inquiries, and provide general information as needed.
- Coordinate with inpatient units to call scheduled patients for examinations when equipment becomes available.
- Perform portable X-ray imaging throughout the medical center while notifying nearby staff and visitors of radiation safety precautions.
- Document unusual events occurring within the Diagnostic Imaging Service and notify the on-call Radiologist or supervisory technologist.
- Maintain exam room cleanliness and restock supplies at the end of each shift.
- Ensure patient safety during examinations, including proper patient handling and movement techniques.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients, visitors, and medical staff.
- Notify supervisory technologists when leaving the department or if coverage is unavailable.

- Refer after-hours clinical questions to the appropriate on-call Radiologist, Resident, or Chief Technologist when a Radiologist is not immediately available.
- Document after-hours situations and provide written reports to the Chief Technologist as required.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide emergency imaging services when scheduled.
- Support the VA Radiology mission by delivering diagnostic imaging services aligned with standards of care for Veterans across imaging modalities.

Schedule:

- Personnel will work any eight (8) hour shift, nine (9) hour shift, or ten (10) hour shift. Eight (8) hour shifts are typically five (5) days per week with 30 minutes for lunch/dinner. Nine (9) hour shifts are typically a rotating four (4) day and five (5) days per week with 30 minutes for lunch/dinner. Ten (10) hour shifts are typically a four (4) day week. Rotating weekends and Holiday shifts may be required, and hours will vary. Overtime, On-Call, and Call Back duty for these positions may be required on occasion and in emergent situations. Overtime, On-Call, and Call Back rates will be in accordance with Contractor's Federal Supply Schedule Price List terms and conditions. Minimum assignments shall be for 2 days (16 hours per position), with possible opportunities for longer assignments depending on the need of the medical facil.

Qualifications:

- In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
- Successful completion of an accredited educational training program in which technologists are certified as Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience operating diagnostic radiology equipment under the supervision of a Radiologist or medical officer.
- Recent experience as an MRI Technologist in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting within the past six (6) months.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Proof of current Professional Liability insurance.

JOB SCOPE

The Plating Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for engineering support, process development, control, and continuous improvement for the following plating methods and configurations.

  • Reel-to-Rell plating systems
  • Coil-to-Coil plating systems
  • Vibratory Barrel (Vi-Barrel) plating systems
  • SBE (Spouted Bed Electroplating) systems
  • Manual Barrel plating lines

This role supports plating on both Red metals and Aluminum substrates, including but not limited to terminal pins, contacts, and precision connector components.


RESPONSIBILITY

The Plating Manufacturing Engineer provides technical ownership and process expertise for the following plating layers and process sequences including Zincate(aluminum pre-treatment), Copper, Nickel, Tin, Tin-Copper (SnCu), Gold and Silver.


REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year college degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent required.
  • 5-7 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing procedures and processes.
  • Familiarity with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in specifying equipment and tool design requirements and troubleshooting complex equipment and tooling.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Computer proficiency required, should include Microsoft Word, Excel and Project, as well as AutoCAD and other analysis programs.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, schematics, sketches and written instruction.

  • Ability to balance chemistry, equipment, and mechanical interaction effects.
  • Comfort working directly on the production floor in live plating environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to operators, technicians, suppliers and leadership.
