Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift & 3rd Shift

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the calibration, testing, setup, and repair of various controls, instruments, and gauges used in the manufacturing process.
• Monitor equipment performance, making necessary adjustments to setups, calibrations, and alignments.
• Evaluate and diagnose root causes of equipment issues, taking immediate action to resolve problems.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and commonization across processes.
• Collaborate with facilities, operations, maintenance teams, and vendors to facilitate equipment installation and readiness.
• Perform troubleshooting tasks for PLC systems, welding processes, and robotics.
• Track production equipment data, identifying and reporting inconsistencies.
• Read and interpret electrical prints for effective problem resolution.

Qualifications

Position Title: Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the design, documentation, and improvement of products and manufacturing processes. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to help translate concepts into manufacturable designs while ensuring products are built efficiently and to high quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to develop CAD drawings, create technical documentation, assist with manufacturing tooling and fixtures, and collaborate with the production team to solve real-world engineering challenges on the factory floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and update 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
• Develop technical documentation such as work instructions, quality plans, and engineering documentation for internal and external use.
• Assist in building manufacturing and welding fixtures according to engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with manufacturing team members to troubleshoot and solve production challenges.
• Provide hands-on support on the production floor when needed.
• Assist engineering team with continuous improvement and product development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Intermediate AutoCAD skills.

• Prior exposure to manufacturing environments preferred.
• Hands-on experience with shop equipment such as drill presses, saws, or welding equipment preferred.
• Machine shop experience preferred.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.

Key Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5+ years in the communications industry required.
• BICSI Technician certification preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of telecommunications, data, AV, network infrastructure cabling and components required.
• Maintain and reference industry standards including BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA, and local Low Voltage Code.
