Job Summary

The College of Sciences (CoS) and the College of Engineering (CoE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invite applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in the field of solar-terrestrial science and/or space weather. Applicants will be considered at all ranks, though there is a particular focus on the Assistant and Associate ranks. Areas of interest include but are not limited to the Earth's ionosphere and magnetosphere, space weather forecasting and resilience. Applicants with research interests in any or all of sensors and observations from ground or satellite instruments, data analysis and data science, modeling and theoretical research, are all welcome to apply. The position will be supported by the National Science Foundation under the Faculty Development in geoSpace Science program. This unique faculty search is being pursued by a joint effort of two Colleges, enabling candidates across a broad range of backgrounds to apply. The departmental home of the hired candidate will be determined based on best fit and may be anywhere within CoS or CoE. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.



Responsibilities

Applicants conducting or proposing interdisciplinary work have a high potential for success in the position, in part due to the nature of this faculty search, and in part due to Georgia Tech's interdisciplinary culture. In addition to Georgia Tech's strength across many areas of science and engineering, Georgia Tech will soon launch an Interdisciplinary Research Institute covering many areas of space science, technology, and policy. The Institute will further energize the space research ecosystem at Georgia Tech with a major boost in institutional resources toward long-term support for community building, teaming to bring in major complex grants, expanding external collaborations, internal and external communications, distinguished speakers, infrastructure including core facilities, as well as the visibility to seek philanthropic funding. The successful candidate may also be able to collaborate with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), GT's applied research wing.

The Colleges seek individuals with outstanding potential for research achievement and a strong aptitude and interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.

Candidates will primarily be considered at the ranks of Assistant and Associate Professor. Exceptional candidates may also be considered at the rank of full Professor.

Job Summary

Perform a variety of duties related to the protection of life and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, preservation of the public peace, apprehension of criminals, and calls for service. Perform basic police services in accordance with the mission, goals and objectives of the Georgia Tech Police and in compliance with governing federal and state laws. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: supervisor and co-workers, GT employees, students and campus visitors. This position typically will advise and counsel: GT employees, students and campus visitors.



Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Engage in law enforcement patrol functions by foot, bike or vehicle including rotating shifts and physically checking doors and windows of buildings to ensure they are secure. Conduct visual and audio surveillance.

Job Duty 2 -
Operate a law enforcement vehicle during both day and night; in emergency situations involving speeds in excess of posted limits, in congested traffic and in unsafe road conditions caused by factors such as fog, smoke, rain, ice and snow.

Job Duty 3 -
Effect an arrest, forcibly if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting suspects using maneuvers and weapons and resort to the use of hands and feet and other approved weapons in self-defense.

Job Duty 4 -
Exercise independent judgment in determining when there is reasonable suspicion to detain, when probable cause exists to search and arrest and when force may be used and to what degree.

Job Duty 5 -
Prepare investigative and other reports, including sketches, using appropriate grammar, symbols and mathematical computations.

Job Duty 6 -
Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include directing traffic for long periods of time, administering emergency medical aid, lifting, dragging and removing people from dangerous situations and securing and evacuating people from particular areas.

Job Duty 8 -

About The School of Cybersecurity and Privacy

The School of Cybersecurity and Privacy, ranked #2 in Cybersecurity, is one of five schools in the #5 ranked College of Computing. Founded in September 2020, it builds on the strong foundation and continued success of the cybersecurity research, education, and service efforts at Georgia Tech that began more than twenty years ago. As the home to the world's leading undergraduate and graduate program in cybersecurity and privacy, The School of Cybersecurity & Privacy (SCP) at Georgia Tech is a growing academic unit that consists of 30+ tenure-track and research (including several holders of endowed chairs) faculty, postdocs, adjunct faculty and professional staff. This distinguished group comes from Computing, Engineering, Social Science and Business Colleges. The School of Cybersecurity & Privacy offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees.

The ideal candidate will be a Full Professor with tenure in a premier department at a research university or have an equivalent position in industry or government in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Humanities, International Affairs, Law, Public Policy, or any other field with a proven record of high impact contributions in cybersecurity or privacy. Candidates should have a proven record of achieving external visibility and funding; have demonstrated strong leadership and team building skills; care about the personal and educational enrichment of faculty, staff, and students; have experience with strategic planning, administrative oversight, fiscal management, and vision development; and embrace participatory management and transparent decision-making.

A respected employment defense law firm is seeking a talented Employment Defense Attorney to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a group of highly experienced attorneys who focus exclusively on representing employers in complex employment law matters.

The firm represents major national and regional employers in high-stakes employment litigation and counseling matters. Attorneys at the firm have backgrounds from top law schools and nationally recognized law firms, and the practice is known for its strong litigation results and strategic client advocacy.

This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated employment litigation matters while enjoying a collaborative environment and flexible work structure.


Responsibilities:

  • Defend employers in employment-related litigation
  • Handle cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage & hour, and wrongful termination
  • Manage single-plaintiff and complex employment litigation matters
  • Conduct legal research, drafting, and motion practice
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Provide counseling to employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws


Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar license
  • Experience in employment defense litigation preferred


Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $180,000 – $250,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
