Electric Motor Design Engineer
Job Description
WWe are looking for a seasoned engineer to lead the development of advanced electric motor technologies, supporting both new product development and the improvement of existing designs. This role focuses on the full lifecycle of motor systems—from concept and analysis through testing, validation, and manufacturing readiness—while working closely with cross-functional engineering and production teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Engineer and refine AC and DC motor systems, including induction, permanent magnet, BLDC, and synchronous designs
- Conduct electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical evaluations using engineering simulation and analysis tools
- Perform product teardowns and competitive analysis to understand construction methods, winding configurations, materials, and magnetic circuits
- Generate 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation required for manufacturing and production support
- Develop test plans and evaluate motor performance including torque, efficiency, thermal behavior, noise, and vibration
- Identify opportunities to improve motor efficiency, reliability, and overall system performance
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for scalable production
- Support prototype builds, troubleshooting efforts, and root cause investigations
- Evaluate competitor technologies and provide recommendations for design improvements
- Ensure designs align with relevant engineering standards and assist in transitioning products into production
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in electric motor design and development
- Demonstrated experience bringing a motor design or redesign from concept through production launch
- Strong foundation in electromagnetic principles and electric machine design
- Experience with motor simulation/analysis tools and 3D CAD platforms such as SolidWorks or Inventor
- Practical experience performing product teardowns and reverse engineering
- Knowledge of winding techniques, laminations, magnetic materials, insulation systems, and motor manufacturing processes
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
