Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL, for a Construction Safety Manager. The Construction Safety Manager will oversee workplace safety across construction sites, implement comprehensive safety programs, conduct regular inspections and audits, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards. Trillium Construction is hiring for a Construction Superintendent/SSHO in Jacksonville, FL to work directly with a Top 10 ENR contractor on a multi-million-dollar project to redevelop the Jacksonville Shipyards along the St. Johns River.

Duties:

• Schedule, coordinate and supervise the construction work, including supervision and of craft subcontractor/ employee activities.
• Coordinates the project’s safety effort and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures included in the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Manages subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA and Perini’s safety program.
• Perform daily safety inspections of trades/work areas and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors as they are discovered.
• Facilitates weekly toolbox talk meetings and presents safety updates to clients during progress meetings.

The Opportunity

The University of Central Florida (UCF) has established several interdisciplinary faculty research clusters to strengthen its academic offerings and research mission. In support of this effort, we invite candidates for two (2) tenure-earning assistant professor, tenured associate professor, or tenured professor positions with the university research center on Resilient, Intelligent, and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES). The positions have an anticipated start date of August 8, 2026.

These are interdisciplinary positions that will be expected to strengthen both the RISES Center and a chosen tenure home department and may include a combination of joint appointments. A strong advantage of this position is the ability of the candidate to choose multiple units for their joint appointment in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Sciences, or both.

All candidates whose research are at the forefronts of energy systems, resilience, and sustainability will be considered. The technical fields of specific research interest for the two positions include but are not limited to:

Position # 1- Sustainable Energy Systems: Non-Combustion (Host Department: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering):

An ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in pathways for novel processes of electric power generation and storage that do not involve combustion. The selected candidate should be proficient in process design, characterization, and modeling of low carbon electricity generation technologies that ensure access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable power for all. We seek candidates with a strong foundation in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and energy systems engineering, and a demonstrated research record in non-combustion-based electric power generation and/or energy storage.

Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

• Advanced nuclear energy systems, including small modular reactors (SMRs), microreactors, molten salt reactors, liquid metal reactors and high-temperature gas cooled reactors, especially those supporting grid resilience.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations. A strong record of peer-reviewed publications, mentorship, and engagement with industry, national laboratories, or large-scale research initiatives is highly desirable. Experience with computational tools (e.g., CFD, FEA, system-level modeling) and/or experimental platforms for energy systems is expected.

Position # 2 - Machine Learning and AI for Energy Systems (Host Department: Computer Science and possibly Electrical and Computer Engineering Department):

An ideal candidate would have extensive experience applying modern machine learning techniques to solving complex problems within the energy systems. The candidate should have a strong foundation in deep learning techniques (including convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks and multi-head attention models). An experience with specialized foundation models is a plus.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to:

• Energy market and load/generation forecasting, including short- and long-term demand prediction, renewable generation forecasting (solar, wind, hydro) under uncertainty, spatiotemporal modeling for distributed energy systems, energy markets, transfer learning and domain adaptation for data-scarce regions and integration of weather, mobility, and socioeconomic data for predictive modeling.

  
  

• Distributed infrastructure resource management, including data-driven modeling and coordination of interdependent infrastructure systems and their subsystems (such as networks of transportation, gas, electricity grid), multi-agent reinforcement learning for distributed coordination and demand response optimization using AI.

  
  

• Distributed infrastructure system optimization, such as real-time optimization of interdependent infrastructure and energy systems using AI and advanced control methods, hybrid physics-informed and data-driven modeling and control for stability and flexibility.

  
  

• Energy system resiliency research, including detection of faults and cyber-attacks, outage prediction under extreme conditions, resilient cybersecurity solutions, and self-healing algorithms.
  

  
  

Candidates should demonstrate not only extensive experience in deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning but also evidence in interdisciplinary, human-centric, community-based, and data-driven research on energy systems.

Successful candidates will have research impact as reflected in high-quality publications and the ability to build a well-funded and sustainable research program. These positions have an anticipated start date of August 8, 2026. Each of these hires will strengthen UCF and MAE, and may include a combination of joint and/or secondary appointments. Both individual/interdisciplinary infrastructure and startup support will be provided with these new positions. Central Florida has long been the center of space activities. With NASA Kennedy Space Center less than an hour from Orlando, several well-known companies such as Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, and Lockheed Martin have their major headquarters in Orlando. Others such as Pratt & Whitney (Raytheon), Northrop Grumman, Blue Origin, and SpaceX have their headquarters within easily drivable distances. All these companies share the same talent pools available in this region. UCF's Orlando location also puts it at the center of the Florida High Tech Corridor. The corridor has an excellent industrial base that includes software, defense, space, simulation and training, and a world-renowned entertainment industry. Adjacent to UCF is a thriving research park that conducts over $2 billion in funded research, hosting more than 100 high-tech companies and UCF's School of Modeling, Simulation, and Training. In response to this unique locational opportunity, The Center for Advanced Turbomachinery and Energy Research (CATER) was founded to focus on student training and research on turbomachinery and associated energy systems for application in power generation, aviation, and space propulsion. CATER has 9 core faculty members at present, with a staff of 5 research faculty, 15 postdoctoral researchers, and 97 doctoral students. It collectively secured $20.3M of new external funding in FY 24-25 and graduates 13 doctoral students per year on average.

The successful candidates would be part of the UCF HYPERSPACE Center ( ), a Center of Excellence (COE) for Hypersonics and Space Propulsion at the University of Central Florida. The motivation of the center is Speed and Space with the goal of achieving ultra-high-speed flight through our atmosphere, and efficient planetary entry and exit, making space exploration and intercontinental travel as routine as intercity travel is today. The center is a national and world leading center in hypersonic and space propulsion, modeling, aerodynamics, laser diagnostics/sensors, extreme environment materials, and additive/advanced manufacturing with Government and Industry funding. Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in an area appropriate to Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Applied Mathematics at the time of appointment. Each selected candidate also must have a record of scholarly publications or sponsored research related to hypersonics.

To be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate professor upon hire, the selected candidate must have a demonstrated record of research, teaching, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at that rank.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a sustained record of external research funding in hypersonics and space, as well as experience leading large, multidisciplinary proposal teams. Evidence of research productivity through publications in reputable, peer-reviewed venues is expected. Additional qualifications include experience mentoring students, a history of collaborative research, and strong proficiency in written and oral English communication. Candidates must also present a clearly articulated and focused research plan that supports collaborative and transformative work in hypersonics and space.

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Large Format Additive Manufacturing Manager based in Merritt Island, FL. This position is responsible for owning and scaling Building Blocks’ large-format additive manufacturing capability from early application through fully integrated, production-ready use on live façade projects.

The role sits at the intersection of design, engineering, manufacturing, and project execution. The Additive Manufacturing Manager will lead the strategy, process development, and day-to-day operation of LFAM systems used to produce molds, tooling, and potentially end-use architectural components. Success in this role is defined by throughput, repeatability, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities include defining and optimizing print processes and parameters, qualifying materials, commissioning and maintaining equipment, establishing QA/QC and safety standards, and integrating additive manufacturing directly into project workflows. The role also includes building and leading a high-performance team while driving continuous improvement in cycle time, cost, and output quality.

Close collaboration with design, engineering, tooling, and production teams is essential to ensure digital models translate into executable, production-grade print paths that meet real schedule and cost constraints.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, or industrial automation, with 3–5+ years in a leadership role
• Direct, hands-on experience with large-format additive manufacturing systems (robotic or gantry-based); concrete, cementitious, or composite materials strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of material behavior, process control, tolerancing, curing, and post-processing
• Proven ability to take emerging or LFAM technologies and turn them into reliable, repeatable production systems
• Experience establishing manufacturing standards, QA/QC criteria, safety protocols, and performance metrics
• Demonstrated leadership in building, training, and managing technical teams
• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward execution and accountability
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field
