CFD Simulation Engineer

Overview

A global automotive company in Raymond, Ohio is seeking a highly skilled CFD Simulation Engineer with strong expertise in Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) analysis. This role focuses on developing and executing high-fidelity CFD simulations to support thermal management, design validation, and performance optimization of complex automotive engineering systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with STAR-CCM+, along with working knowledge of ANSYS Fluent and OpenFOAM, strong pre-processing skills using ANSA, and experience developing automation and scripting tools to accelerate simulation workflows. This position requires a minimum of four days onsite per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute CHT and thermal-fluid CFD simulations for full-system and component-level models
• Perform geometry cleanup, surface preparation, and mesh generation using ANSA and STAR-CCM+
• Build, calibrate, and validate CFD models using experimental data or benchmark references
• Execute simulations using STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, and OpenFOAM, ensuring accuracy and computational efficiency
• Conduct parametric studies, sensitivity analyses, and design optimization to support engineering decisions
• Develop and maintain automation and scripting tools (Python, Java, macros) to streamline model setup, execution, and post-processing
• Collaborate closely with design, test, and systems engineering teams to interpret results and provide actionable recommendations
• Document simulation methodologies, assumptions, and validation results clearly and concisely

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in CFD simulations, with a focus on CHT and thermal-fluid coupling
• Proficiency in STAR-CCM+; working knowledge of ANSYS Fluent and OpenFOAM preferred
• Strong experience using ANSA for geometry preparation and mesh generation; working knowledge of CATIA preferred
• Solid understanding of heat transfer mechanisms, including conduction, convection, and radiation
• Experience modeling thermal systems, preferably in automotive or transportation applications
• Experience with Python, Bash, or Java for CFD process automation
• Familiarity with HPC environments, parallel computing, and GPU acceleration (e.g., NVIDIA A100/H100) is a plus

Preferred Skills

• Experience with parametric studies, DOE, and optimization frameworks
• Familiarity with CAD tools such as CATIA or SolidWorks for model import/export
• Experience with data visualization tools such as ParaView, Ensight, or Tecplot

Job purpose:

 About this Position: 

Oversee NM project activity and independently manage supplier part & process maturation to meet New Model project/event timing for New vehicles. Provide technical engineering expertise to ensure part and process can meet mass production quality requirements and demand.

Job Purpose
Support the NA regional Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as a business system expert by supporting the development and direction of system strategy, standardization, and diffusion across all North American manufacturing plants, ensuring robust, repeatable, and controlled processes are in place to maximize business value and support plant characteristics enhancement. 

Key Accountabilities

• Support the development and implementation of strategies, including plans & targets, to standardize and improve the business operating capabilities of the MES for the region
• Lead mid-sized projects/themes of varied complexity and scope through collaboration with team (plant, IT, regional engineering), including current system enhancements and feasibility studies for future products
• Work effectively with local plant departments and regional IT to ensure system standards are created, documented, and sustained
• Complete testing, verification, and documentation of system changes. Confirm system requirements are met during appropriate UAT timing and ensure countermeasure application on the system before change release
• Participate in the development of a standard training program for system use and deliver it when required

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree related to process, manufacturing management, industrial or systems engineering, or other equivalent degree and/or experience
• 5+ years of experience in Process Engineering or Manufacturing Systems with a focus on the automotive industry w/ Bachelor’s degree or 11+ years of experience with relevant responsibilities w/ HS diploma
• Systems technology experience, knowledge of process engineering, business analysis skills, project management, process project design & implementation, change management, MS Office. Knowledge of QICS is a plus, but not required

Mechanical Design Engineer – ADAS Hardware Packaging

Description :

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering and strong experience in automotive product development. The candidate must have either a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience.

The role focuses on the mechanical design and packaging of hardware components supporting automotive ADAS systems. This includes developing mechanical parts such as housings, mounting brackets and structural supports for vision systems, radar, safety sensors and related control units from initial concept through mass production.

The engineer will be responsible for full product development activities including design feasibility studies, cost analysis, strength calculations, part construction and specification definition, while coordinating prototyping, fabrication and manufacturing activities.

The position requires strong expertise in Catia V5 & V6 (including VPM Navi) along with advanced surfacing, meshing, FEA, sheet metal design, CAE, draft analysis and digital mockup (SPA). Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal forming, stamping, welding, injection molding and process control is required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong engineering capabilities in tolerance stack-up and part design optimization (function, cost and weight), along with strong project management and leadership skills to manage multiple projects and achieve technical objectives.
