Electrical Engineer - Data Centers - Virginia
Metric DCX are partnered with a global engineering and consultancy firm to support the continued growth of their data center division.
This Electrical Engineer position will specialize in data center facility design to be embedded directly with a major end-user client.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing third-party and colocation facilities being considered for acquisition, evaluating their suitability against the client's portfolio requirements.
- Taking ownership of power systems across all project phases, identifying and resolving issues as they arise in collaboration with the relevant client stakeholders.
- Reviewing data center designs with a critical eye on redundancy architecture, availability targets, and potential single points of failure.
- Working closely with operations, planning, and energy strategy teams to push electrical solutions forward on third-party data center projects.
- Conducting technical due diligence and maintaining quality standards in line with client expectations.

Background Required
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate qualification or PE license would be a strong advantage.
- At least five years working within mission-critical environments, with solid hands-on exposure to colocation and multi-tenant data center projects specifically.
- Confident in power systems analysis and the software tools that come with it.
- Practical experience across the full electrical distribution stack — from high voltage transformers down to branch circuits — covering design, procurement, commissioning, and operations.

Summary: Shipfitters are responsible for the layout, fabrication and installation of structural parts such as plates, bulkheads and frames. Shipfitters brace structures in position for welding. Shipfitters prepare templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Fabricate templates for bending / shaping ship structures, frames, bulkheads and braces.
- Measures, lays out and cuts templates.
- Fits foundations and structural members using bar, strip, angle and plate and scribes. foundations to deck and bulkhead structure.
- Complete pre and post weld checks.
- Performs chipping, beveling, grinding and cleaning of surfaces to be welded using power and hand tools.
- Proficient in oxyacetylene and plasma cutting.
- Perform housekeeping efforts to maintain cleanliness of the worksite.
- Delivering materials as required.
- Perform duties as Fire Watch.
- Participates in special projects as required.

- Catalog Design Updates: Implement iterative design improvements for standard equipment models. Coordinate releases with management and manufacturing teams based on production schedules.
- Compliance & Delivery: Ensure all builds meet customer specifications and regulatory standards. Complete documentation, testing, and final handoff of equipment.
General Responsibilities
- Problem Solving: Apply critical thinking and collaborate across teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Ownership of Design: Oversee designs through manufacturing and testing phases, adapting quickly to changes.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain expertise in Cranemasters' equipment and stay current with industry best practices and safety regulations.
- Customer Engagement: Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and addressing inquiries.
- Quality Assurance: Work with project managers and foremen to uphold quality standards during rebuilds and production.
- Communication: Maintain open dialogue with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams, providing clear rationale for design decisions.
- Resilience: Respond effectively to dynamic, high-pressure situations during emergency derailment support.
- Documentation: Follow revision control and release guidelines; record calculations, procedures, and results accurately.
- Time Management: Prioritize tasks to meet manufacturing timelines and urgent delivery requirements.
