About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. All ECE undergraduate and graduate programs are in the top five of the most recent college rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia, ECE also has permanent operations at Georgia Tech-Lorraine in France and Georgia Tech-Shenzhen in China. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in the area of Electrical Engineering.

Specifically, we are seeking an individual who is invested in engineering education and who will deliver excellent teaching in the area of electrical power systems, power electronics, power conversion, and rotating machines. We are open to applicants in all areas of electrical engineering, but we are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and research experience in one or more of the following topics: power electronic devices, controls, and circuits; power system modeling, control, stability, protection, and transients, motor/generator modeling, design, and testing.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track academic position. Salary commensurate with qualifications. (Includes full benefits). Lecturer positions are part of a teaching faculty career track at Georgia Tech which provides opportunities for advancement to Senior and Principal Lecturer positions.

The successful candidate will be named the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Neuroengineering, an endowed position specific to the Georgia Tech campus. GRA eminent scholars are expected to engage in or contribute to translational and/or economic development efforts in their field. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Appointment is expected at the rank of full professor with tenure.

The department seeks a visionary scholar-educator and proven leader in high impact and emerging areas of importance to human health and biomedicine. We are specifically interested in the areas of neuroengineering and neuroscience, particularly developing and using approaches in machine learning and AI, with neurotranslational potential. The School of History and Sociology (HSOC) is a uniquely interdisciplinary unit with an intellectual culture of cross-pollination between sociological and historical scholarship, as well as work in science and technology studies. The School is united around a vision of scholarship and teaching that elucidates processes of local, national, and global change, past and present. Other Required Qualifications
Position requires the ability to pass a drug/alcohol pre-screening; may require working competently with dangerous materials and in a dangerous environment, such as around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and bot surfaces. In addition, it may require lifting heavy objects of up to 75 pounds, and working in confined spaces, noisy environments, and elevated locations (such as climbing extension ladder and other types of ladders; or using scaffolding) either inside or outside of a building. During adverse weather, activities may require extensive after hours work or callback. This job may require wearing a full-face respirator in accordance with Georgia Tech campus policies and procedures. The Haider Lab in the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Georgia Tech & Emory University seeks a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral fellow to undertake NIH funded projects examining synaptic and network mechanisms supporting sensory perception and visual attention.

The projects offer significant opportunity to learn cutting-edge research techniques in vivo with transgenic mice performing quantitative visual behavioral tasks.

The specific job duties undertaken include the following: 1) neural population recording with high-density silicon electrodes (Neuropixels), 2) optogenetic circuit manipulation, 3) training transgenic mice on quantitative visual spatial detection behaviors 4) high dimensional neural data signal processing and analysis.

Candidates should have completed a PhD in Bio-Engineering or related area

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• The ideal candidate has expertise in patch clamp / multi-electrode electrophysiology in vitro or in vivo, experience with neural or behavioral data analysis related to visual neuroscience, and quantitative skill in data acquisition and analysis (preferably with MATLAB). Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an inquisitive mindset, and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

• Significant experience in electrophysiology, visual neuroscience, neural data analysis.
• Proven ability to execute projects using the above skillsets in high-quality publications.
• Knowledge of optogenetics, optical imaging.
• Excellent skills in MATLAB (or similar) programming, animal experimental procedures necessary for in vivo electrophysiology studies, neural signal processing.
• Experience in animal behavior/human visual psychophysics.

We seek exceptional candidates in all areas of Cybersecurity and Privacy as well as candidates exploring emerging or interdisciplinary topics that push the boundaries of these fields. In addition to building an active research program in these areas, successful candidates will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as perform service roles across the school, the college, and the institute.

Candidates are expected to teach and mentor students. Along with undergraduate and graduate teaching, each position requires a balance of research and service responsibilities.

Technology Services Organization (TSO) at Georgia Institute of Technology is seeking to hire a Research Technologist I to Work with the TSO research team in the technical support of research activity within the College of Computing.

This is a hybrid working position.

Work with the TSO research team in the technical support of research activity, including:

• Provide point of contact and customer interface regarding TSO's support of college research technology resources.
• Work with faculty, researchers and graduate students with the acquisition, research, development and implementation of research resources, and integration of advanced technologies involving work in research data center and lab environments.
• Work with Research Lab Managers in support of strategic research facilities.
• Manage technical problems, requests, and projects to assure quick resolution, best practices, and excellent customer service.
• Coordinate the provisioning of OIT and TSO services to meet faculty and student needs.
• Implement large-scale, automated approaches to operating system and configuration management and control of systems and HPC resources.
• Implement CoC technical plans, infrastructure, policies and procedures in research facilities.
• Monitor and maintain the general health and life cycle of research systems.
• Implement Institute computing and networking security policies and procedures, as well as develop written internal computing and networking policies and documentation.
• Develop and coordinate technical aspects of research grant proposals.
• Provide bid and proposal costing for strategic technologies.
• Be aware of and discuss technology trends and new products that could be used to enhance research facilities.
• Act as liaison to GT/OIT, other GT units and external research partners regarding research computing capabilities.

• Bachelor's degree

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Two or more years of job-related experience.
• Higher Education experience preferred, experience managing technology in a highly distributed, multi-vendor environment supporting research.
• Be able to conceptualize immediate and future research technologies.
• Linux systems administration experience, preferably in a heterogeneous environment that includes Linux/UNIX, Mac OS X, and Windows client systems accessing physical and virtual Linux servers.
• Knowledge of Linux server installation and administration, system monitoring, hardware maintenance and troubleshooting, configuration and patch management, virtualization, containerization, private cloud, storage solutions, IP networking concepts, information security, identity and access management, and backup & recovery.
• Knowledge of a UNIX scripting language (e.g. python, bash, etc.).
• Exemplary customer service skills and the agility to handle unusual technical requests.
• Possess excellent communications skills, the ability to make technical presentations, the ability to create technical documentation, a strong service orientation, and the ability to work well with other professionals in providing technical solutions in an advanced computing environment.
