Overview

A growing advanced manufacturing organization in the Phoenix area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Controls to support the transition of new technologies from development into full production. This role works closely with operations and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and strengthen product quality while supporting electrical systems testing and production readiness.

This position combines hands on manufacturing engineering, controls support, and cross functional collaboration with product development teams.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Process Engineering

• Support the transition of new products and technologies into production environments
• Partner with Operations and Product Development teams to improve manufacturability and process efficiency
• Develop and maintain work instructions and manufacturing documentation
• Identify and lead cost reduction initiatives related to materials, labor, and process improvements
• Lead quality improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes

Controls & Electrical Testing

• Test electrical equipment functionality using system diagrams and defined test parameters
• Support firmware and electrical testing based on specifications from electrical and software engineers
• Assist in developing conceptual designs for internal test equipment using block diagrams, circuit schematics, and prototype boards

Technical & Project Support

• Review electrical schematics and support the creation of bills of materials
• Source and coordinate procurement of electrical components from vendors
• Assist with assembly and testing of electrical systems and prototypes
• Travel periodically to field sites to support troubleshooting, commissioning, retrofitting, and technical support activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a product-based manufacturing environment
• Experience with electronic or electrical product assembly processes and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
• Project management experience and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Self-starter who can identify problems and drive solutions
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across engineering and operations teams
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Phoenix area

Preferred

• Experience working with renewable energy or solar technologies

• Perform on-site preventative maintenance, repairs, and modernizations on electric overhead traveling cranes

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience

• Experience in flight avionics with electrical hardware development, sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development and/or requirement validation.

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Missile guidance electronics subsystems typically contain antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic so the ideal candidate will have a background in designing and troubleshooting of one or more of these components. Ideal candidates will also have experience in project leadership, systems engineering and architecture and have a desire to grow into a higher level.

• Experience working with missiles or similar systems.

• Experience in Earn Value Management System (EMVS) and Cost Account Management (CAM)

• Knowledge of mixed signal electronics.

• Ability to manage cross-functional teams.

• Ability to drive suppliers in meeting commitments.

• Knowledge of DOD Hardware development process (knowledge of design gates).

• Experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.

• Experience in developing proposals.

• Knowledge and/or experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)

Job Summary:

The Bike Shop in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Fabrication Lead Tech who will work in the mechanical fabrication shop, executing a variety of mechanical fabrication efforts at an exceptional quality level, while collaborating in a dynamic, fast-paced, integrated team environment. The position interacts daily with fellow support technicians and engineers, to successfully meet the prototype and test manufacturing needs of our internal and external engineering customers.
 
 
Responsibilities to Anticipate:  

• Quick-turn machining of critical prototype, aerospace parts and test assemblies from metal and non-metal materials utilizing precision manual mills and lathes

• Use of general machine shop tools and support equipment including the use of typical dimensional measuring tools

• Work with basic sketches and, underdeveloped drawing packages as well as model renderings

• Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including part/machine setup, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing their workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating work when required

• Work in a multi-program-controlled area.

• Report to the Mechanical Prototyping and Fabrication Section Lead within the Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication department (the Bike Shop)
   
   
  The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance  
   
   
  Qualifications You Must Have:

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience independently operating manual mills and lathes.

• Eight (8) or more years of interpreting mechanical blueprints / technical drawings with the ability to machine one-of-a-kind quality, in-tolerance parts per drawing specifications.

• Ability to inspect machined parts using standard precision measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.

• A strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) 
   
   
  Qualifications We Value:

• AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training such as: machining/fabrication technical education or apprenticeship).

• Basic experience in the development and manipulation of computer-generated 3D models in Creo, or similar CAD system

• Knowledgeable in the setup/operation of manual CMM’s

• Competent computer skills – Windows, MS Office products

• Previous working experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and/or conversational programming, setup and operation

• CAM Software: Mastercam or similar is a plus
