The Effectors PG&C Center is currently hiring for a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer position in Tucson, AZ to support execution of the portfolio of current and upcoming missile programs. As a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping with the evaluation, design, implementation, and integration of embedded software algorithms. You will collaborate with a team of engineers in an integrated product team that will be responsible for tactical embedded software, firmware, and integrated flight software 6 Degrees-of-Freedom simulations to achieve overall system performance requirements. This position is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Development, integration, and testing of embedded tactical missile flight code
  • Definition and execution of system level performance studies and analyses to inform the development and integration of new capabilities, refinement of existing capability, or to address obsolescence
  • Work within an agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics
  • Provide experience and guidance to help the program train new engineers and execute efficiently and effectively
  • Support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience

  • System Safety is responsible for ensuring our products are safe for the customer to use in any environment needed. System Safety is involved from the design phase through its full life cycle. Our input in the design phase is critical to ensuring end user safety.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineer to join us on the Air and Space team in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

As a Principal System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessment for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirement compliance.
  • Partner with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.
  • Support all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from design, fabrication, integration and test, production to demilitarization and disposal phases
  • Develop a System Safety Program and perform analyses primarily in accordance with Mil-Std-882
  • Work with varying sized system safety programs and support multiple programs to include:
  • Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
  • Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
  • Briefing program safety at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically Requires a bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
  • Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
