Food Scientist

The Food Scientist plays a critical role in developing, optimizing, and commercializing ingredient solutions that meet customer needs and manufacturing realities. This role is responsible for driving formulation excellence, supporting scale-up from bench to production, and ensuring products perform consistently, efficiently, and safely. The focus of the Food Scientist is practical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and translating food science into commercially viable, manufacturable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and reformulate ingredient solutions including powders, pastes, butters, inclusions, and blends
• Lead formulation scale-up from bench to pilot to commercial production
• Troubleshoot formulation and processing challenges related to texture, viscosity, stability, oxidation, color, flavor, and shelf-life
• Partner with Operations to adapt formulations to equipment capabilities, line constraints, yields, and sanitation requirements
• Support and participate in plant trials, first production runs, and continuous improvement efforts
• Collaborate with Sales and customers to solve application challenges and support customer trials and approvals
• Clearly communicate technical tradeoffs and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including specifications, technical data sheets, and sample notes
• Support cost-in-use optimization while maintaining product performance, quality, and clean-label objectives
• Maintain working knowledge of food safety, regulatory, labeling, and allergen requirements
• Support customer audits, specification development, and documentation requests
• Demonstrate ownership of projects from concept through commercialization and post-launch support

What Will You Need

• B.S. or M.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in ingredient manufacturing and/or food formulation
• Proven formulation experience with powders, pastes, butters, inclusions, or blends
• Customer-facing experience supporting technical discussions and trials
• Working knowledge of food safety, regulatory, and allergen requirements
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Able to read, write, and speak English fluently

Proper Hospitality is seeking an AI Workflow Fellow for a three month, execution focused program embedded with the CEO, President, and Chief of Staff. This role is responsible for building and deploying production ready AI workflows across our hotel portfolio, automating real operational processes tied to clear ROI, and integrating across systems including PMS, Snowflake, Microsoft 365, and guest experience platforms. This is hands on applied AI with live impact on property operations, not research or prototype work.

What This Is

We're not exploring AI at Proper Hotels. We're deploying it. Right now, AI runs our executive briefings, triages guest reviews across 11 properties, automates reporting pipelines, and handles operational workflows that used to eat hundreds of hours. We need someone who can build more of this, faster.

This is a single fellowship seat. You'll work directly with our CEO, President, Chief of Staff and executive team for three months and will be shipping production workflows from week one.

You are the execution engine inside Proper’s broader Workflow & AI operating model.

What You'll Actually Do

Building (80%)

Build & Ship

• Design and deploy agent-based workflows that automate real operational tasks (not demos, not prototypes that sit on a shelf)
• Build within clearly defined ROI hypotheses approved by the Head of Workflow & AI (not speculative experiments)
• Wire together APIs across our stack: PMS, Snowflake, Notion, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Revinate, STR
• Build multi-agent systems that handle overnight operations, reporting rollups, task accountability, and guest experience triage
• Create tools that General Managers and department heads actually use daily

Identify & Automate

• Audit departmental workflows across the portfolio and find the manual processes burning the most hours
• Build the automation, test it on-property, iterate based on real feedback
• Transition tasks from "someone does this by hand" to "this runs itself" without losing the human touch that defines Proper

Strategy (20%)

Strategic Input

• Evaluate frontier capabilities weekly, but only deploy those that map to defined operational ROI
• Translate what's happening at the AI frontier into specific, actionable opportunities for luxury hospitality
• Help shape our internal AI skill-building program so the culture evolves with the technology

Who You Are

• You build agents and workflows, not just prompts. Show us something you've built that runs without you babysitting it
• You've shipped applied AI into production environments. Side projects count if they're real and running
• You can wire APIs together before lunch and present to the C-suite after it
• You navigate ambiguity without freezing. If a tool doesn't exist, you build it
• You understand that technology in a hotel should be invisible but felt. "High Tech / High Touch" isn't a slogan to you
• You're hands-on with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source), API orchestration, agent frameworks (eg. Openclaw), and data pipelines
• Bonus: experience with hospitality systems, revenue management, or guest experience platforms

Education

CS, Data Science, or MBA with a strong technical background preferred but not required. Non-traditional paths welcome if your portfolio speaks for itself

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Clinical Studies Coordinator to lead and execute end-to-end clinical studies supporting FDA submissions (510(k)), pilot and feasibility studies, post-market clinical follow-up, and real-world evidence generation.

This role is hands-on, operational, and strategic. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing medical device and digital health clinical studies, working directly with FDA-facing documentation, IRBs, investigators, CROs, and internal regulatory, engineering, and product teams.

This position plays a critical role in de-risking regulatory submissions, ensuring GCP compliance, and translating clinical evidence into successful regulatory and commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of clinical studies, including:
• Pilot/feasibility studies
• IDE-exempt and IDE-supporting studies
• Pivotal and non-pivotal studies for FDA 510(k) submissions
• Post-market surveillance (PMS) and post-market clinical follow-up (PMCF)
• Real-world evidence (RWE) and usability studies
• Develop and manage study timelines, milestones, and deliverables
• Ensure studies are conducted in compliance with GCP,FDA regulations, ISO 14155 and other applicable standards.
• Prepare, review, and maintain clinical documentation for regulatory submissions, including:
• Clinical Study Plans (CSPs)
• Protocols and amendments
• Informed Consent Forms (ICFs)
• Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) (in collaboration with biostatistics)
• Clinical Study Reports (CSRs)
• Ensure audit-ready clinical documentation at all times

Other Responsibilities:

• Support subject recruitment and enrollment activities
• Conduct blood draws on study subjects.
• Process blood samples.
• Initiate IV’s when the MD is unavailable.
• Supervise the maintenance of laboratory equipment, including calibration records.
• Maintain clinical staff training documentation.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• 7 – 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position primarily works in an office as well as laboratory environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Work in a lab involves potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, as well as needles. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.
