The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team to support design and upgrades of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems.
This is an onsite role and located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do:
Utilizing strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, and electronics integration
Supporting all phases of programs from capture and concept development through production
Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of electronics for multiple military programs
Supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, component selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical/RF layout, and delivering the final technical data package
Employing transition-to-production practices with the ability to lead a design release into production
Tracking, reporting, and meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product, including Earned Value (EV) management and Estimate at Complete (EAC) inputs
Preparing proposal inputs on behalf of the product area
Providing technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements while helping to remove roadblocks
Working with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment while meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.
Leading a small team of mechanical engineers when required
Interacting frequently with senior personnel, occasionally including external customers, on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the design of electronics packaging for military or aerospace or commercial applications
Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with ANSI drawing standards and/or first order or structural analysis techniques.
Experience with design to military standards
Strong technical background with high technical aptitude

The Effector Digital Products (EDP) department develops electronics for our weapon system products. We are responsible for the architecture, design, and documentation of deliverable FPGA embedded processing. We engage at the outset of the weapon system development and follow our designs through deployment. Our products are deployed all over the world, from the ground to exoatmospheric environments and into space.
As a Principal FPGA Design Engineer you will develop FPGA designs for all major vendors and device families including: Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi. Designs are implemented using VHDL for the following applications: gigabit serial interfaces, Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing and processor interfaces.
Designers work with circuit card designers and systems engineers to develop requirements, architect new parts, collaborative modeling of algorithms, partition and perform code development, simulation, and place and route. Designs are verified against requirements using both directed test and constrained random methodologies. Design support is expected from requirements definition through integration and test. Design documentation and configuration management are required.
This position is 100% ONSITE in Tucson, Arizona.

Deliver production-quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept to production
Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements.

The Role We Want You For
The Scheduling and Planning Manager builds and maintains the project schedule and the different baselines in accordance with Clayco’s policies, owner requirements, and the on-going analysis of the network logic and validation as it complies with the intent of the project team. Cost and resource loading including the Clayco metrics and general conditions is required on all project schedules so, all report generation and cash flows will be a critical element of the role.
The Specifics of the Role
- Periodic progress updates of in-progress schedules. Collection of all pertinent data required to update the schedule. The Scheduler is responsible for collection of update data from multiple sources, including the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Owners Representatives and subcontractors. All update data shall be approved by the Project Manager prior to incorporation into the schedule.
- Maintenance of Project Schedule Baselines. Maintains Project Schedule Baselines in accordance with Clayco’s policy regarding Baselines and any additional requirements the Owner’s contracts may include.
- Periodic Performance Report Generation. Generation of project specific Performance Reports as well as Clayco Standard reports, including but not limited to: Critical Activities Report, Baseline Deviation Report, Earned Value Performance Index Report and Project Cash Flow Report.
- Cost and Resource Loading of Schedules. Required at a minimum on all Clayco projects to include the Clayco Metrics Resource Set for project staff and General Conditions. As required by the project, updating cost and resource actuals may be required as part of the periodic progress update process.
- Network Logic Analysis and Validation. On-going analysis of the network logic and validation that it complies with the intent of the project team and that it complies with the Clayco Standard Guidelines for network logic. The network logic on-going analysis shall also include removal of extraneous and superfluous dependencies that may cause errors in calculating total float and criticality.
- Assist in preparation of Monthly Schedule Reporting. Preparation of the required reports for the project and shall include assisting with the draft of the Monthly Schedule Narrative.
- Schedule Development. Developing schedules from the ground up for both proposals and construction projects. Development of both types of schedules shall be a team effort.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or related major is required.
- 6-10 years of scheduling experience.
- Data Center experience.
- Recent expertise and a proven knowledge of Primavera P-6 scheduling management system.
- Project Management experience working for general contractor preferred.

Our Senior Principal Embedded Real-Time Software Developer/Integrator is a technical position that works in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to architect, design, implement, test, debug, and deploy Software for Firmware (FPGA) and Hardware solutions that meet current and next generation autonomous avionics systems’ needs. Working with a cross-discipline team, the candidate must have experience developing, testing, and integrating software for edge or embedded devices and/or subsystems (like telecom, medical, IoT, automotive, or robotics) where hardware operation, time critical function, functional reliability, mission assurance, and safety might be major concerns.
The successful candidate will work with Product Owners, Chief Engineers, Management and other IPT members using Lean and/or Agile practices to ensure that embedded software is designed and developed to reliably operate toward the intended functions.
This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.
