Impact

As a Safety Basis Analyst 3, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities at LANL, specifically supporting USQ efforts at TA-55. This position directly contributes to maintaining safety compliance during a period of increased operational tempo, supporting critical national security missions through hazard analysis, safety documentation, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform nuclear and non-nuclear hazard and risk analyses to ensure safe facility operations
  • Conduct hazard identification, hazard analysis, and facility hazard categorization
  • Perform accident analysis and support selection of safety controls
  • Develop and maintain safety basis documentation including:
  • Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) determinations

Minimum Qualifications

EHS Manager (Rio Rancho)

The EHS Manager will lead Environmental, Health, and Safety efforts for Castelion's Rio Rancho, New Mexico facility, supporting solid rocket motor manufacturing, integration, and test operations. This role is responsible for building and managing site EHS programs to ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced, high-hazard manufacturing environment.

The EHS Manager will play a key role in facility startup, commissioning, and ramp to production, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and leadership to embed safety and environmental stewardship across development and manufacturing. The ideal candidate brings experience in process safety, hazard analysis, and regulatory compliance in aerospace, manufacturing, energetics, or other high-consequence environments, and will also provide periodic EHS support to Castelion's Midland, Texas test facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the EHS leader for the Rio Rancho facility, responsible for developing and managing site EHS programs, systems, and policies to ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead EHS planning and execution during facility startup, commissioning, and ramp to production, partnering with operations and engineering to integrate safety and environmental requirements into processes, equipment, and daily operations.
  • Develop and maintain process safety and risk management programs, including hazard analyses (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA) and risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ATF, NFPA, and applicable state and local regulations, including oversight of environmental programs such as hazardous waste, air emissions, stormwater management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Implement and continuously improve safety programs through audits, inspections, training, and safety initiatives that strengthen operational discipline and safety culture.

Basic Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • You will establish and socialize quality standards and procedures so products and processes meet defined benchmarks.
  • You will administer and improve the quality management system, monitor progress against quality goals, and facilitate formal reviews.
  • You will lead problem solving and corrective actions using approaches such as root cause analysis, 8D, SPC, and CAPA to address customer, internal, and supplier issues with both immediate containment and durable solutions.

Qualifications

  • You hold a bachelor's degree and at least six years of relevant experience in manufacturing quality with demonstrated ownership of site or business unit results.
