Fire & Risk Alliance, LLC is seeking motivated, hands‑on technicians to join our Cambridge, MD team. This role is ideal for graduates of mechanical, electrical, or construction trade programs who enjoy building, assembling, and working with tools and equipment in active testing environments.


Our Cambridge testing facility focuses on medium‑ and large‑scale fire testing, fire suppression research, deflagration protection, gas detection, and battery energy storage safety. You’ll work directly with engineers to build test rigs, install instrumentation, and support major research programs.


Role Description

  • Build and assemble medium‑ and large‑scale experimental test structures
  • Install sensors, wiring, piping, mechanical components, and instrumentation
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Assist with data collection, calibration, and troubleshooting
  • Support field work, equipment transport, and on‑site test operations
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient testing environment

 

Qualifications

  • Training or experience in mechanical, electrical, or construction trades (fabrication, framing, wiring, HVAC, assembly, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools and equipment
  • Ability to read basic drawings, schematics, or construction layouts
  • Experience operating forklifts, skid loaders, pallet jacks, or similar equipment is a strong benefit
  • Willingness to learn instrumentation and data acquisition systems

Your Expertise

The school is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide financial expertise and implement a responsive set of systems and approaches to serve the administration of the school. The CFO will oversee all financial matters including forecasting, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance. Working closely with Senior Leadership and the Board of Trustees, the CFO will play a necessary and important role in the mission of the school by ensuring that the financial infrastructure, strategies, and resources are in place to support and sustain the high‑quality educational experience that Prep is known for. At the direction of the President, the CFO works in close collaboration with the Headmaster, Chief Operating Officer and other senior colleagues to ensure that the school’s financial and operational objectives are consistently achieved. With the mandate to innovate on the business office systems and processes and configure the business office personnel to match the future needs of the organization, the CFO anticipates needs and provides access to information and insights for effective decision‑making at the school.

This person directly manages a team of three people who execute the accounting and finance functions. The CFO retains responsibility for financial legal affairs, compliance, and risk management. Essential ResponsibilitiesFiscal Management and Accounting
  • Manage daily financial operations, including accounting functions and payroll.

Position Summary

A career-minded Water/Wastewater Hydraulic Modeler, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT’s fast-growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. The selected employee will be responsible for leading engineering tasks and projects in the municipal water and wastewater utility space, with a primary focus on hydraulic modeling of sanitary sewer collection systems and potable water distribution systems.

This position is not a general water resources modeling role. The ideal candidate’s experience is centered on water and wastewater conveyance systems for municipal utilities. Candidates whose background is primarily in floodplain/coastal modeling, dam safety, FEMA mapping, or nuclear power plant flood hazard studies without substantial sanitary sewer and potable water distribution modeling experience will not be a fit for this role.

The selected candidate will be responsible for working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; managing multiple projects; managing preparation and updating of project schedules; developing, analyzing and documenting critical model elements; and coordinating the efforts of a modeling team to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on sanitary sewer collection system and potable water distribution system hydraulic modeling projects in the Mid-Atlantic.
