Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Composite Fabricator to join our Fabrication team in Everett and Renton, Washington.

As a Composite Fabricator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the production of non-metallic components for our Airplanes. Your expertise will be essential in fabricating and assembling parts with precision, utilizing various methods and equipment while adhering to established safety protocols. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring that all processes meet rigorous quality specifications. Position Responsibilities:

• Fabricate, assemble, rework, repair, and finish a variety of non-metallic parts, tools, and assemblies to specifications using methods such as layup, foaming, bonding, molding, and drap forming.

• Operate mixers, impregnating equipment, heat treaters, curing equipment, formers, presses, and ovens according to established procedures, as well as various cutting equipment for flat pattern cuts of composite materials.

• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to provide input on design optimization for developmental and emergent projects.

• Utilize prints, charts, change notices, sketches, work orders, and engineering drawings to complete work assignments effectively.

• Impregnate materials and cut fabrics to size using appropriate tools such as knives and shears.

• Hand and machine finish parts to required tolerances, ensuring proper fit within completed assemblies.

• Sand and polish molds to achieve smooth surfaces and wrap mandrels with impregnated materials to meet specifications.

• Place vacuum bags over wrapped parts, test for leaks, and seal any identified leaks in pressure and vacuum bags.

• Prepare and apply protective materials, lacquers, and parting agents to molds, forms, and dies.

• Load, unload, and operate ovens, presses, and pressure bags during the curing process of parts and assemblies.

• Drill, trim, seal, part-mark, sand, and edge break parts to meet production requirements.

• Select and secure appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment to accomplish assigned work.

• Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy in work assignments.

• Perform Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) on equipment, including cleaning, oiling, greasing, and changing filters to maintain optimal operation.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

• Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

• Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

• Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

• Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

• Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3 months or more reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).

• 3 months or more with structure materials and processes including metals, composites, bonded and bolted joints.

• 3 months or more experience accessing a database for details work instructions.

• 3 months or more experience using precision measuring tools (i.e. micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, etc.).

• 3 months or more experience in composite fabrication.

• Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.

• Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Comfortable working from high/exposed places, tight spaces and working from ladders.

• Ability to work in noisy environments while completing tasks.

A well-established Pacific Northwest shipbuilder is hiring a Marine Project Engineer to support new vessel construction and major overhaul projects. This is a mid-career opportunity for a hands-on engineer who wants to see complex vessels go from concept to launch.

What You’ll Do

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or closely related discipline
• 3+ years of experience in marine construction or shipyard engineering
• Strong understanding of vessel systems and sequencing in new construction
• Experience managing engineering documentation flow to production teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard project tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work onsite in Washington State

• Perform inspections and in-process inspections as required, including crimping, splicing, torque, bond, and ground checks.

• Conduct various tests and measurements, such as resistance tests, to ensure that wires meet specification requirements.

• Inspect electrical wire bundles and assemblies, ensuring all parts have been assembled according to drawings and specifications.

• Screen paperwork for options, substitutions, and effectiveness of parts and materials.

• Identify, investigate, and document discrepancies, reporting them to the shop as necessary.

• Reject wire bundles, assemblies, or installations as required, documenting discrepancies and processing Quality Assurance records.

• Indicate Quality Assurance acceptance on appropriate paperwork and online systems, processing documentation as required.

• Coordinate and complete travelers, investigating and clearing check orders as necessary.

• Initiate Inspection Record Change Requests (IRCR) and/or Shipside Action Trackers (SAT) as needed.

• Ensure that certifications for tools, test equipment, and personnel are current and compliant.

• Assist other employees by providing information and answering questions regarding functions, methods, and procedures.

• Perform first article inspections and FAA conformities, coordinating results as required.

• Enter data into various computing software systems, such as Common Manufacturing Execution System (CMES) and Enterprise Process Evaluation Systems (EPES).

• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to evaluate and improve build processes and defect reduction initiatives.

• Initiate and document any nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Decorative Interior Repairperson to join our Joint and Installation team in Renton or Everett, Washington. 

As a Decorative Interior Repairperson, you will be essential in ensuring that our aircraft interiors meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Your expertise will be vital in identifying and documenting any visible defects during thorough inspections, allowing you to execute precise repairs on interior trim and furnishings. By utilizing detailed specifications and prints, you will ensure that all materials used are appropriate and effective for the aircraft. Additionally, you will be required to pass an eye examination for color perception to ensure optimal performance in your role. Your meticulous approach will involve disassembling components, cleaning surfaces, and applying various finishes to achieve a flawless appearance. Collaboration with engineering and planning teams will be key as you address any challenges that arise, ensuring that all repairs conform to established procedures and specifications.

Position Responsibilities:  

• Obtain work assignments from the team leader or review relevant paperwork to determine tasks. 

• Perform walk-through inspections of aircraft interiors to identify and document visible defects for repair. 

• Make repairs to interior trim and furnishings using materials such as plastics, vinyl, and metal, and remove stains or scratches. 

• Use prints, specifications, and documents necessary to accomplish work effectively. 

• Obtain and verify kitted repair supplies, ensuring color combinations are suitable for the aircraft.

• If supplies are not pre-picked, gather specified materials from storage areas as outlined in installation plans or non-conformance records. Disassemble defective interior trim parts using hand tools and clean surfaces prior to applying new materials. 

• Apply potting compounds, primers, adhesives, and special finishes as required by specifications and work orders. 

• Fit and assemble detail components to repaired parts according to specifications and drawings. 

• Paint or touch up repair areas using appropriate tools to achieve the desired finish, including mixing and matching paint as needed.

• Rework materials per engineering specifications and incorporate changes as needed, including leather repairs and touch-ups. 

• Remove marks and scratches from metal surfaces using appropriate tools and techniques. 

• Seal edges of repair areas with color-matched sealant as required.

• Consult with engineering, planning, and inspection on job-related issues and contact team leaders or supervisors when assistance is needed. 

• Document repairs identified by other mechanics and maintain personal certifications as required. 

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards: 

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs. 

• Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. 

• Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants. 

• Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards. 

• Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions. 

• Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:  

• 1+ years of experience working with vinyl wallpaper, composites/non-metallic materials.

• Experience applying and evaluating decorative paint/ink for color match.

• Ability to wear eye, hearing, foot, hand, respirator and other personal protective equipment/safety gear at all time.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• 1+ years of experience with aerospace or automotive spray painting.

• Experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.

• Experience with touch-up painting.

• Enrollment in a Boeing partnered manufacturing related high school, community and technical college academic program.

Typical Education & Experience:  

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.    

Pay: $24.32 per hour with potential to earn up to $48.58 per hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
