About the School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Mathematics instruct students from across campus, including undergraduate and graduate students. Its faculty carry out research in a wide variety of Mathematical Sciences. The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for one postdoctoral research position in the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence for Science for Fall 2026. The position consists of an annually renewable three-year research and teaching appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematics and the position includes research funding. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.

Responsibilities include developing an international level research program aligned with the mission of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center; collaborating across the university in research and grant efforts; teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in School of Math; and actively participating in the operation of Georgia Tech AI4Science Center.

A PhD or its equivalent in the Mathematical Sciences, granted not more than 5 years prior the start of the appointment. An earned doctorate is required by the start of the appointment.

Department Information
The Woodruff School graduates high caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession. Mechanical engineers are the foundation of todays technological world. To do so, we provide enhanced facilities and laboratories to create the best learning environment and we attract outstanding faculty and students. In this period of rapid technological change, the Woodruff School produces mechanical engineers who are vital to our future.

With approximately 3,000 students, 100 faculty members, and 80 staff members, the Woodruff School is one of the largest mechanical engineering programs in the country. We are consistently ranked as one of the top 10 mechanical engineering programs in the U.S. at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and continuously innovate to keep our school at the forefront of engineering education. Plan and administer the academic advising processes within a college or school. Areas supervised include recruitment, curriculum planning, registration requirements, monitoring student progress and recordkeeping. May include services provided to both undergraduate and graduate students. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback and making pay recommendations.
