JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is assisting a signal processing and optical telecommunications client of ours in identifying an Embedded Software Development Engineer for a direct-hire opening. The Embedded Software Development Engineer designs, implements, and tests embedded software features running on both in-house developed and commercial hardware platforms.

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for optical telecommunications equipment.
• Develop software in C/C++ for embedded Linux SoC systems and microprocessors.
• Collaborate closely with hardware design engineers to support rapid embedded software development: Provide software input during schematic design reviews and assist with board bring-up, debugging, and validation.
• Support the production team with software testing and production workflows
• Provide customer technical support, including bug fixes and implementation of new software features
• Recreate customer-reported issues and test scenarios using optical laboratory test equipment
• Participate in project planning, task estimation, and schedule development
• Contribute to system-level design and embedded software architecture

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Strong proficiency in embedded C
• 3-5 years in embedded software engineering
• Experience leading software engineering projects (project management experience)
• Experience developing software for embedded Linux systems
• Ability to debug software at the Linux and embedded system level
• Understanding of electronic hardware fundamentals
• Experience using laboratory test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG tools
• Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python, and Linux command line tools, including bash scripting

Salary Range: 94,080 – 116,240 USD

Middleware Engineer

Contract to hire

Hybrid (2-3 days onsite)– Newtown Square, PA

The candidate will be a team player in a technology organization responsible for Middleware Infrastructure environment. The organization consists of highly trained system engineers and administrators, whose responsibilities include sustaining, engineering and production support of our Middleware environments. At client, Middleware technologies include OpenShift, Kubernetes, containers, Kafka, Apigee, IBM ESB, IBM MQ, Java, Tomcat, Apache, IIS etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage Middleware products/environments including new installations, upgrades, maintenance and tuning, monitoring and capacity planning.
• Provide system/technical expertise while managing application deployments and troubleshooting application and platform issues.
• Participate in 24x7 rotational On-Call production Middleware Infrastructure administration support for business-critical applications.
• Design, build and manage OpenShift clusters across Development, test and production environments.
• Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines leveraging Jenkins, Git or similar
• Manage and optimize Kubernetes/OpenShift resources, Pods,Services,Routes,operators,Helm Charts etc.)
• Review system logs on critical servers regularly and address system generated errors and warnings immediately to ensure minimum downtimes and disruption to users
• Expertise in reviewing, implementing and supporting Enterprise Security solutions including Web Service Security, SSL Mutual Authentication, SSL certificate management.
• Expertise in Various middleware technologies including Apache, application and web servers, Expertise in administering and architecture of IBM MQ environments, Kafka, Apigee including deployment, upgrades, configurations, setup, performance tuning.
• Regularly review security patches on all servers and install the latest security patches/service packs periodically.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science , Information Technology with equivalent experience.
• At least ten(10) years of experience of overall support of Middleware Technologies and Infrastructure.
• 5-7 + years’ experience in containerization and Orchestration (Kubernetes, docker Etc.)
• Experience with Kubernetes concepts (pods, deployments, namespaces, RBAC, networking)
• Assist in updating documented guidelines and procedures for the IT-Infrastructure unit and ensure that the documentation reflects any/all procedural changes.
• Perform system health checks of core infrastructure systems as needed.
• Integrate proactive monitoring, logging and alerting using enterprise monitoring tools.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Extensive experience and skill in the use of scripting (bash, python, PowerShell) to report on systems and automate processes.
• Participate in planning, testing and implementation of disaster recovery plans at the Primary and Secondary Disaster Recovery site.

Job Description

Night Shift hours (4:30p - 1:00a)

Sets up, writes programs and edits existing programs, and operates numerically controlled machinery. These include but are not limited to lathes, mills, drills, and other machinery as required.

• Maintains quality and tolerances within .0003”.
• Follow written and verbal procedures for machining and other duties.
• Work from work order routings, prints, sketches, layout sheets, written and verbal instructions.
• Working knowledge of programming languages and the ability to learn / adapt per machine.
• Must be able to recognize and understand functions of machine parameters with the ability to modify as required per supervisor’s instructions.
• Utilize knowledge of working properties for a variety of materials such as stainless steel, alloy steel, cast iron, brass, exotics, etc.
• Presets tools and may be required to re-sharpen.
• Inspect work produced using micrometer; bore gage, venire calipers, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures on equipment as prescribed by supervisor and report operating difficulties of equipment to supervisor.
• Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies, reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Make proper labor and time reports.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Keep machine(s) / work area clean and orderly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a technical school education and working machinist knowledge or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of CNC machine tool Programming & Operating experience.
• Numerical control machining skills experience and ability to read and interpret work related machine drawings.
• Make average to complicated mathematical calculations and resolve elementary technical problems.
• CNC Programmer/Operator will be compensated in accordance with defined expertise, experience and production efficiency.
• Can operate a minimum of 2 CNC machine tools.
• Possesses previous experience as a Manual machinist.
• Must be detail oriented; be able to work independently using sound judgment.

Pay Range: $27.00 - $30.00 hr.

Position offers an additional $2.00 Shift Differential.

• Install, maintain, improve and repair equipment, plant services and building installations to set levels effectively in compliance with best practices ensuring production efficiency can be met within a safe well-presented facility.
• Respond to technical issues affecting production and maintain electrical and mechanical services through application of advanced Total Productive Maintenance tools and techniques.
• Plays a pivotal role in helping guide the Engineering and Maintenance teams through extensive training, mentoring and technical support to continuously improve and upgrade equipment and technician capabilities.
• High level production breakdown support through root cause problem solving, with minimal downtime to production. Ability to take these incidents and develop long term technical solutions to eliminate recurrence of issue through machine upgrades.
• Set up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices. Develop and improve SOP’s to support production, sanitation and maintenance staff have detailed instructions and machine setting guidelines for optimal performance.
• Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using such tools as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges.
• Document and use center-lining tools to standardize machine operations.
• Assist in all aspects of manufacturing electrical and mechanical equipment with an emphasis on quality, organization and neatness using tools such as 5S and TPM techniques and approaches.
• Work in coordination with the Maintenance Manager on major projects leading sub-project activities
• Prepare reports and recommendations on machines and repairs required for Maintenance Manager.
• Train maintenance technicians how to estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales.
• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management along with designed recommendations on how to resolve.
• Develop preventive maintenance tasks and activities and work with PM coordinator to enter EAM and train technicians on how to follow and complete.
• Plan and prioritize workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time.
• Ensure all lost time, minor and trivial accidents are reported.
• Ensure all company procedures are understood and followed.
• Ensure a safe working environment exists for self and colleagues, ensuring all health, safety environmental and quality management procedures are followed and achieve the company’s and department KPI targets.
• Undertake special projects as required.
• Actively utilize continuous improvement methodology to progress the maintenance function.
• Assist visiting specialist when necessary.
• Ensure that contractors are utilized in accordance with company procedures.
• Follow up on any temporary repairs and generate a work order in the EAM (Enterprise Asset Management System)
• Know where emergency STOP and START/STOP buttons are located
• Responsible for following all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for machine when necessary
• Complete a Food Safety Incident Report if an incident occurs
• Complete an Incident Report if there are any injuries.
• Participates and assists in any audits when requested
• Follow and enforce all company GMP procedures. Document any violations
• Support without hesitation General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices with an understanding that these are absolutes and are Priority #1.
