Mechanical Design Engineer - Complex Custom Equipment
Company Description
Our client specializes in manufacturing industrial machinery and equipment for customers in a variety of sectors. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer at their site near Buffalo, NY. This is an onsite position that is involved with the development, design and complete engineering definition of products for fabrication in conjunction with sales proposals and customer input, satisfying customer needs.

The Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will oversee knowledge of the project specific engineering schedule, and also mitigate potential issue with the schedule and any conflicts or delays to the supervisor.
The role will also require you to read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, participate in project kick-off meetings, have a complete understanding of project specifications and customer expectations.
Other responsibilities include understanding and knowing how to apply common codes and standards, working with Project Engineers in a team environment to create conceptual designs to support sales and detailed designs, and managing multiple projects and balancing requirements to keep all the projects on schedule.
Requirements
- Strong Mechanical Design experience in a full time role within a similar industry sector.
- Previous experience of working within a manufacturing floor and exposed to design work.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience with 3D modelling and 2D drafting, including experience with Autodesk Inventor design software and parametric modelling techniques.
- Experience in designing complex custom equipment highly desirable.

Summary
The Innovation Program Analyst helps turn new ideas into successful products by combining analytical business case development with structured innovation program coordination. This role evaluates market opportunities, builds ROI-driven investment cases, and provides leadership with clear insight into project value, risk, and readiness. Key Responsibilities

In this role as Senior Electrical Engineer, it will be focused on facility assessments for the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) facility assessment program. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience evaluating facilities and preparing reports to support strategic decision-making and resource allocations. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of facilities for NYS OGS portfolio of buildings, adhering to established protocols and standards
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define assessment criteria and objectives aligned with mission of LiRo-Hill and NYS OGS
- Utilize industry leading methodologies and tools to gather, analyze, and present assessment data effectively

Key Responsibilities Solution Architecture and Design Develop end-to-end architectural designs for finance and supply chain systems in alignment with business objectives.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking skilled Make-Ready Designers (primary focus) and Power Distribution Designers to support engineering programs for major electric and telecom utilities. Ideal candidates bring demonstrated experience in overhead utility pole design, NESC application, clearance assessment, pole loading analysis, and construction package development. Useful design platforms include DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or client-specific drafting systems.
In this role, you will review field/walkout data, evaluate existing attachment conditions, model pole loading, determine make-ready requirements, and prepare accurate construction-ready deliverables. Applicants without utility pole design or distribution engineering experience will not be considered.
Note: This position is remote, but new hires must attend a 2-week paid, in-person orientation at our Perrysburg, OH headquarters.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
