Electrical Engineer - Data Centers - Virginia

Metric DCX are partnered with a global engineering and consultancy firm to support the continued growth of their data center division.

This Electrical Engineer position will specialize in data center facility design to be embedded directly with a major end-user client.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing third-party and colocation facilities being considered for acquisition, evaluating their suitability against the client's portfolio requirements.
• Taking ownership of power systems across all project phases, identifying and resolving issues as they arise in collaboration with the relevant client stakeholders.
• Reviewing data center designs with a critical eye on redundancy architecture, availability targets, and potential single points of failure.
• Working closely with operations, planning, and energy strategy teams to push electrical solutions forward on third-party data center projects.
• Conducting technical due diligence and maintaining quality standards in line with client expectations.
• Keeping internal documentation, specs, and standards current based on live project feedback and lessons learned.
• Liaising with internal teams on power loading, rack deployment, and load balancing within shared facilities.
• Contributing to cross-discipline coordination with mechanical and controls engineers, and supporting consistency across regional teams.

Background Required

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate qualification or PE license would be a strong advantage.
• At least five years working within mission-critical environments, with solid hands-on exposure to colocation and multi-tenant data center projects specifically.
• Confident in power systems analysis and the software tools that come with it.
• Practical experience across the full electrical distribution stack — from high voltage transformers down to branch circuits — covering design, procurement, commissioning, and operations.
• Comfortable working across disciplines and engaging with structural, mechanical, civil, and IT/Telecom teams as needed.
• Grounded in US electrical codes and standards, with some awareness of IEC standards beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Management – Treatment Focus: Lead planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater treatment plant projects and related facilities (including pumping stations and associated collection/distribution infrastructure) for municipal and utility clients.
• Scope, Schedule & Budget: Manage multiple concurrent projects, taking ownership of scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, change management, and contract closeout.
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and QA/QC for treatment process design, pumping facilities, and associated civil/mechanical components; review calculations, plans, and specifications prepared by project teams.
• Client Interface: Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients in the Hampton Roads region; lead progress meetings, present technical findings, and build long-term client relationships.
• Team Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their technical growth and helping to develop the next generation of project leaders.

Required Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Demonstrated experience managing water/wastewater projects from planning through design and into construction, including responsibility for schedule and budget.
• Strong technical skills in water/wastewater treatment processes, pumping facilities, and collection/distribution systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead client meetings and prepare clear technical reports and presentations.

Preferred Experience

• 10–15 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater consulting, with an emphasis on treatment plant projects.
• Direct experience working with Hampton Roads and Virginia municipal/utility clients and familiarity with regional permitting and regulatory requirements.
• Prior responsibility for project financial performance, staff management/mentorship, and pursuit strategy on key water/wastewater projects.
• Involvement in professional organizations such as WEF and AWWA.

The Senior SharePoint Architect serves as the lead technical authority responsible for the planning, architecture, engineering, and modernization of DISA J6's SharePoint and Dynamics CRM platforms. This role supports both Platform Services and Operations and Maintenance Service Delivery, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned to DISA's enterprise technology roadmap and cloud transition goals. The Sr. SharePoint Architect designs architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces. Identifies, assesses, and presents options for meeting the functional and technical requirements including hardware and software updates or upgrades. Responsible for developing high level system design diagrams. Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures, the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and International Standards Organization (ISO) reference models, and profiles of standards - such as Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Open Systems Environment (OSE) reference model - as they apply to the implementation and specification of Information Management (IM) solution of the application platform, across the application program interface (API), and the external environment/software application.
