Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Process Engineer to lead the standardization and optimization of CNC machining operations across multiple identical vertical machining cells. This role focuses on converting subject-matter expertise into structured, repeatable shop-floor documentation while serving as the advanced technical escalation point for complex machining issues.

The ideal candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting cycle time reduction, tool life optimization, chip evacuation, and tooling strategies, working closely with tooling vendors to develop custom solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture tribal knowledge from CNC SMEs and convert it into standardized documentation.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operator-Driven Reliability (ODR) tasks.
  • Develop troubleshooting guides and decision trees for rapid issue resolution.
  • Standardize processes across identical machine cells while identifying and documenting exceptions.
  • Establish escalation tiers and structured support models for operators, skilled trades, and CNC engineers.
  • Perform advanced CNC troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Improve process reliability, repeatability, and equipment uptime.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on:
  • Cycle time reduction
  • Process stability
  • Tool life optimization
  • Optimize tooling strategies including:
  • Tool selection
  • Feeds and speeds
  • Tool life management
  • Collaborate with tooling vendors to design and implement custom tooling solutions.
  • Address chip evacuation and high-volume machining challenges.
  • Develop training materials and provide hands-on training to operators, skilled trades, and engineering staff.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining or CNC Process Engineering experience.
  • Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Hands-on experience working directly on the manufacturing floor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Haas NGC control systems.
  • Knowledge of Haas Advanced Tool Management (ATM).
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Global macro variables
  • Mathematical operators
  • Logical functions in CNC programming
  • Experienced CAM programmer.
  • Strong G-code programming background.
  • Familiarity with Midaco (or similar) pallet change systems.
  • Extensive tooling selection and application knowledge.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred

  • Basic tools, required

  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:

  • Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required

  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred

  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A,preferred

  • This position requires for you to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee you must:

  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test

  • Pass a DOT physical

  • Pass a Ryder road test

  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities




  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties

  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance

  • Performs standard component inspections and repairs

  • Performs preventive maintenance

  • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable

  • Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required

  • Replaces defective components as instructed

  • Performs facility maintenance duties

  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available

  • Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)

  • Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
