Position Summary

The Senior Data Scientist will serve as a technical lead in the development of advanced analytical solutions. This role uniquely combines Generative AI innovation with Six Sigma operational rigor to drive measurable improvements across Spectrum's network and customer ecosystems. You will not only build models but also optimize the processes they inhabit to ensure maximum ROI and statistical stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Generative AI Strategy: Lead the research and implementation of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to automate complex business workflows and enhance internal knowledge management systems.
• Operational Excellence (Black Belt): Apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology to the data science lifecycle. Identify root causes of operational inefficiencies and deploy AI solutions to mitigate them.
• Advanced Modeling: Build, validate, and deploy high-impact predictive models (Churn, CLV, Propensity) using Python, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Process Optimization: Utilize Black Belt principles to reduce \"waste\" in data pipelines, improving model training speed and inference efficiency within Databricks/AWS.
• Stakeholder Storytelling: Act as a bridge between technical AI labs and executive leadership, translating complex neural network outputs into Six Sigma-validated business cases.

Required Technical Skills

• GenAI Stack: Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vector Databases (Pinecone/Milvus), and fine-tuning open-source models.
• Data Engineering: Expert-level SQL and PySpark for grooming large-scale datasets.
• Statistical Control: Deep understanding of Design of Experiments (DoE), hypothesis testing, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor model drift and performance.
• MLOps: Proficiency in versioning and deploying models in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

Education & Certifications

• Education: Master's or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, CS, Engineering).

This Chief Engineer (CE) role leads a a program within the Space-Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (S-ISR)/Integrated Intelligence & Warfighter Support (I2WS) portfolio that provides high-impact software services to the Intelligence Community (IC) mission. The CE is responsible for all aspects of the technical baseline to include architecture, design, SW development, test and delivery using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.

What You Will Do

Customer

• Recognized SME and directly involved in Proprietary customer engagements to support Program objectives.

Business Capture

Execution

• Technical Lead in the area of digital signal processing (DSP).

• Ensure program success collaborating with program management, finance, supply chain, contracts, and other functions/disciplines, consistent with the CE responsibilities.

• Reviews and approve program technical baselines, ensuring program phase appropriateness.

• Ensure collaboration between teams to achieve cost/schedule/performance efficiencies.

• Review and approve engineering execution risk mitigations and opportunity capture plans, ensure alignment to work being performed.

• Ensure program-level Engineering Review Boards (ERBs) and ad hoc review boards are thoroughly implemented with appropriate frequency.

• Accountable for providing engineering inputs to Program Estimate At Completions (EACs) and Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs).

• Lead outstanding program execution, metrics collection, analysis and reporting.

People

• Ensure base program and task order deliveries are staffed with appropriate engineering skillsets.

• Review and communicate staffing demand for the base program, task order deliveries, and in anticipation program modifications.

• Develop and maintain a Chief Engineer succession plan, actively mentor potential successors.

Process & Policy

• Ensure the program's engineering leads and engineering personnel are following approved program processes, procedures and contractual requirements.

• Request and lead engineering reviews and customer technical meetings, ensuring they are appropriate to the scope and phase of the program (e.g. Operational Readiness Review, Increment Planning, etc.).

• Accountable to plan, develop, and review program estimates at complete, bids, milestone reviews, and gates per the approved S-ISR Delegation of Authority, or as otherwise directed by the Program Area Chief Engineer (PACE).

• If failures occur, ensure Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action (FRACA) implementation is thorough, addresses systemic issues (if any), and is in accordance with company policy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team.

As aSenior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
• Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer’s approved equivalent

As a Principal System Safety Engineer, you will be accountable for the establishment and execution of the major safety programs.  The Safety Lead is a technical expert in missile safety as well as a project manager who establishes and monitors safety program execution, leads program safety teams, and interfaces with program & functional leadership.  This requires advanced application of MIL-STD 882E for System Safety (hardware, software, firmware, and personnel) for DoD Missile systems, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience as well as project management experience and leadership.  Location: Aurora, CO.

What You Will Do

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineer to join us onsite as a Safety Lead with proven experience in executing all aspects of system safety.

• Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
• Practical application of project management skills: 
  • Create/update the strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.  
  • Create a schedule and integrate safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). 
  • Plan/manage the safety program effort within the Program IMS. 
  • Understanding of the safety budget and tasking through close coordination with the responsible CAM / IPTL / product owner, including EACs. 
  • Mentor junior safety engineers.    
• Actively engage in engineering review boards, and configuration control boards to stay on top of design changes and assess impacts to the established safety program.  
• Establish on-going feedback loop with functional and program management.  
• Lead & coordinate System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.
• Escalate risks to the appropriate level and follow through on corrective actions.  
• Interpret system requirements, customer specifications and military standards, to recommend compliance strategies to program leadership: Chief Engineer, Program Manager, Integrated Product Team Lead, etc. 
• Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across a range of engineering functions to identify and mitigate risks: Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Environmental Safety, & Health, Human Systems Interfaces, Test Engineering.  
• Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.
• Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from design, fabrication, integration and test, production to demilitarization and disposal phases
• Manage safety-related interactions with suppliers and/or subcontractors.

What You’ll Do

• Own the Estimating Process: Lead estimating for renovation and construction projects across multiple U.S. markets.
• Analyze & Quantify: Perform full-scope takeoffs, pricing, and trade breakdowns from drawings and site walks.
• Sub Management: Source, vet, and level bids from subcontractors to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
• Value Engineering: Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, and cost-saving solutions before they become problems.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with project managers, executives, and procurement to align budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
• Contribute to Winning Work: Help prepare compelling bid packages, proposals, and GMP/lump sum budgets that secure new business.
• Refine the Process: Continuously improve internal systems, tools, and subcontractor databases for efficiency and scalability.

What You Bring

• 4+ years of experience estimating for a General Contractor (required)
• Strong background in commercial Construction
• Deep knowledge of construction trades, methods, and pricing trends
• Proficient in Bluebeam, Excel, and other estimating tools
• Skilled at reading drawings, specs, and identifying risks early
• Detail-obsessed, solution-oriented, and highly organized
• Excellent communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team
