Position description
The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation in the College of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, is seeking qualified temporary instructors to teach undergraduate courses, graduate courses, and/or special topics workshops should an opening arise in the Fall and Spring semesters, or for the Summer term. Applicants should accurately list their specializations so they can be properly evaluated as course needs arise; the existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available.
Lecturers supervise student design projects, give lectures, prepare assignments and project topics & deliverables, hold regular office hours, prepare exams or hold reviews, give design advice, and submit final grades.
In addition to lecturers, we also seek Teacher Special Programs (TSP) instructors, should an opening arise. The TSP's principal responsibilities can range from teaching a short course, providing a lecturer with industry expertise, participating in design critiques during a course, teaching at Jacobs Institute boot camps or workshops, or contributing to major curriculum development.

- The candidate will be responsible for major areas of the search engine for more than 450 million monthly active Pinterest users, including indexing and document ranking, query and content understanding, personalization, ML based retrieval, shopping, videos, as well as infrastructure efficiency and scalability. Pinterest helps Pinners discover and do what they love. The Content Success team is responsible for ensuring that Pinners see fresh new products, ideas and inspiration in their recommendations and that Content Producers receive value from the platform through exposure, engagement and monetization. - Lead, mentor and grow a team of experienced backend and machine learning engineers in developing advanced signals, integrations and systems, which are integral to key Pinterest products across Discovery, Ads, and Growth.
- Provide thought leadership in content distribution and recommender systems by setting a long-term technical vision and advancing the state-of-the-art in the field. Act as the glue between content acquisition and recommendation pods becoming the expert in both these areas.
