WHAT ROLE WILL YOU PLAY?
This role will play a key part in the continued expansion of Sterling’s Life Sciences Division, supporting the growth of our pharmaceutical and medical device client base. We are looking for someone excited by building new relationships, opening doors within regulated industries, and helping scale a high-impact vertical within an already successful organization.
You’ll work with leadership to identify emerging opportunities, penetrate target accounts, and bring Sterling’s technical recruiting expertise to companies developing life-changing products and technologies.
- Drive new business within Sterling’s Life Sciences vertical, with a focus on pharmaceutical and medical device organizations
- Develop strategic relationships with decision makers in regulated manufacturing, R&D, quality, medical device, and engineering environments
- Develop prospect lists, execute a marketing plan, and generate new business.

- Drive closeout completion: warranty tracking, lien waivers, final accounting, and lessons learned.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers / Owners Reps (as applicable).
- Build a high-performing vendor network (GCs, MEP subs, consultants) and maintain preferred partner relationships.

The Role We Want You For
Ventana is currently seeking a Cost Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be assisting in the development and management of the project financial strategy. You will be working directly with the project management team (Direct report to Director of Cost Management) to manage the project budget, costs, change orders, billings and forecasts. You will be responsible for generating and maintaining reports that provide information to different groups, work with the management team to identify variances, risks and maintain quality control processes to improve project cost procedures and ensuring conformity with management's strategy.

- Works with all project disciplines to ensure understanding of total project cost budget allowances and targets.

- Works closely with the accounting department to ensure the correct integration of all information needed to ensure accuracy in billings, payment applications, change orders, direct cost, labor cost, etc.
- Works closely with the project management team, executive management personnel, subcontractors, as well as occasional contact with clients.
- Responsible for cost engineering, cost estimation, cost analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for proposal estimating activities which require a moderate degree of technical skill and experience.
- Ensuring quality, accuracy, consistency, spend profile, performing change management, and transparency in all cost management deliverables.
- Take ownership of the cost control function and ensure integrity of the cost and forecast reporting
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor Business Administration, Engineering, or Construction Management Degree
- Minimum of 2 years in the construction industry
- Knowledge of project development stages, procurement, project controls and construction execution practices is required.
- Working knowledge of applicable computer software such as PMWeb or similar project portfolio management software, dataServ, excel, JDE, Microsoft Bi Variance, etc.
- Effective problem-solving skills.

As an Assistant Superintendent, you will be responsible for field operations and onsite construction management of design-build construction projects, specifically quality control for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, construction, start up, and testing on highly complex projects nationwide. The Assistant Superintendent will have input in the planning and oversight of the job including scheduling of manpower, obtaining tools and materials needed, filing permits and other documents, and advising on budget expenditures. The Project Manager will provide leadership to the project staff and ensure quality and timely execution of design-build projects from design to completion.
The Specifics of the Role
- Working under the leadership of a Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager coordinates all aspects of the project including:
- Coordination with the project team (designers, engineers, production, assembly, site crews).
- Communication and coordination involving the customer and their project team (project managers, architects, engineers, consultants), to ascertain contract time, cost, and quality objectives, and organize project resources accordingly.
- Develop an understanding of the bid scope and contract documents (trade contract, scope drawings, specification, exhibits, bid pricing and clarifications).
- Develop, track, update, and report on the detailed project schedule for design, engineering, mockups, production, and installation activities.
- Develop, track, update, and report on the contract schedule of values and payment requisitions, ensuring the project cash flow is met and payments received in a timely manner
- Develop and understand of the contract budget.
- Coordinate all aspects of project Quality Control; develop, track, update and report on the contract quality control and assurance system.
- Pricing and purchasing of materials, equipment, and sub-contracts, ensuring that both budgetary and specified contractual cost, time and quality requirements are met.
- Research, substantiate, present and report changes to the contract scope.
- Attend and take meeting minutes at all required external and internal meetings.
- Provide and submit all required internal and external contract reports and submissions.
- Manage maintenance and warranty work on completed projects.
- Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
- Ability to identify, assimilate and comprehend the critical elements of a situation to extract and interpret implications of courses of actions and address details of the problem.

Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other related discipline.
- 5-10 years of project management experience large scale subcontracting projects, preferably.
- 2 years of experience in Glass and Glazing Project Management - Unitized Systems.
- Proficient using MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, with an aptitude to learn any required in-house software.
- Strong knowledge of construction principles and practices required.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals.
- Project set up, budget planning, buy out, and cost reporting experience is necessary.
- Experience with scheduling, dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work.
- Experience leading successful project teams, including development of employees, and maintaining relationships with external entities.
- Creative and results-oriented, with a strong sense of urgency.
- Successfully project managed projects of at least 10 million dollars (design-build preferred).
- Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to work equally well on own as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding.
- Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will provide support to the project staff to ensure quality and timely execution of design-build projects from design to completion. These phases include: scheduling, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, the handling of owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout.

- Participate with project team and preconstruction services in development of a Project Chart of Accounts.
- Coordinate with Project Superintendent in development of a project site logistics plan.
- Assist Superintendent in the management of subcontractors.
- Maintain understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
- Oversee the submittal, change order, and pay request process.
- Assist in generation of project costs and Job Cost Report.
- Contribute to the analyzing and forecast of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
- Monitor and record training of all staff personnel.
- Monitor project labor.
- Report and track equipment needs.
- Assist preconstruction services in bidding projects.
- Implement applicable safety, EEO and Affirmative Action programs.
- Participate in the project’s quality process.
- Contribute to schedule and project close-out processes.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or Engineering required.
- 0 to 5 years of experience.
- General knowledge of construction principles/practices required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals.
- Experienced dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work is a plus.

- Successful internships or Project Engineering experience on projects of at least 5 million dollars (design build preferred) is a plus.
