Cost Accounting/Controller
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
- Oversee financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, monitoring variances and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Manage financing of new equipment, asset and depreciation schedule and the purchase and set-up of new loans for equipment.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements with net income and EBITDA calculations.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making. Create journal entries where needed to record accruals and other required entries.
- Manage and record required information for yearly R&D credit.
Cost Analysis:
- Analyze costs and expenses to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Work closely with department heads to develop and track cost-saving initiatives.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and tax laws.
- Oversee payroll and audit reports to ensure it is completed correctly.
Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow, optimizing working capital to meet operational needs.
- Monitor and forecast cash requirements, manage the line of credit.
- Financial Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability objectives.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and provide recommendations.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks that may impact the company's stability.
- Implement financial controls to safeguard company assets.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education and/or Experience – bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred). Previous experience in manufacturing, preferably a machining environment. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Excellent communication, leadership, and team management capabilities.
- Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
- Mathematical Skills – To apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office. Requires extensive knowledge and experience with QuickBooks and other account software.
- Other Qualifications – Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
