What You Will Do

  • Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
  • Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of Database Engineering experience.
  • Experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) and Database Engineer (DBE).
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle, Postgres, or related systems.
  • Experience working with Systems and Software Engineers to implement, and modify backend databases to interact with applications within a development environment.
  • Experience virtualizing or containerizing databases.
  • Experience using Linux command line to perform database administration activities.
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI prior to start date. U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a clearance.

The Vice President of Engineering is a senior technology leader responsible for driving J.Hilburn’s digital product architecture, engineering strategy, and execution. Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute J.Hilburn’s technology strategy aligned with corporate goals and long-term growth initiatives.

  • Lead engineering execution to deliver scalable, performant, and feature-rich App experiences aligned with stylist needs and company goals.
  • Mentor the UI/UX Designer to ensure success in creating creative, guided, and intuitive user experiences that reflect the Stylist journey from client onboarding to order completion.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager and Designer to ensure every release balance creativity, usability, and technical feasibility.
  • Drive data-informed iteration — incorporating Stylist feedback, analytics, and usability insights to continuously refine the experience.
