Job Summary:
This position is based out of Tampa, FL.
The Cargo Chief Mate is primarily responsible for conducting cargo operations, oversee deck hands, perform and supervise deck maintenance duties, and stand a navigational watch (Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (OICNW). The Cargo Chief Mate reports directly to the Master for navigational duties and for maintenance and safety related duties, and additional duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs inspection, testing and maintenance of deck and cargo machinery and systems as well as all firefighting, lifesaving, navigation, and safety equipment onboard.
The Cargo Chief Mate performs Bridge Standing Orders, Logbook Maintenance, Bridge Checklists, Emergency Checklists, Emergency Drills and Exercises, Emergency Equipment Inspection, Emergency Instructions, Work-rest oversight and documentation, Crew Sign-on, Onboard Familiarization, and manage crew changes.
Obtain working knowledge of the Safety Management System and comply with all procedures outlined within as relating to the position.

Must hold the following USCG Merchant Mariner Credential international and national endorsements capable of foreign voyages:

Responsibilities Include:
- Responding to service calls for issues regarding temperature, lighting, etc.
- General mechanical repairs such as greasing motors
- Replacing air handler filters, belts, and pumps
- Electrical repairs which could include replacing lamps and ballasts, defective switches and outlets

System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide for our customers critical needs. Location: Aurora, CO
What You Will Do
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior System Safety Engineer to join our team.
As a Senior System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
- Performing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, or customer's approved equivalent
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives, applying methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams
- Coordinating with customer safety representatives to gain safety approval from appropriate Safety Review Board authorities
- Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls
- Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
- Performing System Safety planning, hazard analyses, and design analyses
- Briefing safety considerations at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
- Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
- Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
- Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
- Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering
- Managing System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives
- Ability to work on Special Access Program(s)
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience with System Safety Engineering and/or Software Safety Engineering
- Experience with complex systems and evaluating them for risk
- An active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. US citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasks
- Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178
- Experience with presentation skills
- Experience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research material
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
- Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.
- Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
