Responsibilities
Surface Warfare Officers (SWOs) are involved in virtually every aspect of Navy missions. As a SWO, you may be in charge of any number of shipboard operations and activities while at sea, working with or within any of these specialized forces:
Aircraft Carrier Forces: Provide and coordinate air, submarine and surface ship defense for aircraft carriers.
Cruiser-Destroyer Forces: Provide ship attack and defensive measures with a wide array of missile and fire power capabilities, providing anti-air, -submarine and -surface warfare support.
Amphibious Forces: Embark and transport vehicles, equipment and personnel for amphibious assault operations.
Combat-Logistics Forces: Provide combatant ships with fuel, ammunition, food and supplies, and provide repair, maintenance and rescue capabilities through Fleet Support Ships.
Mine Warfare Forces: Detect, identify and neutralize threats from hostile use of maritime mines.

Work Environment
As a Surface Warfare Officer, you will work at sea and on shore, in a variety of environments. Sea duty could place you aboard ships within the fleet. Shore duty may involve a tour of duty at the Pentagon, a student assignment at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, or command and management positions at shore bases and stations around the world.
Training & Advancement
Those pursuing an Information Professional Officer position are required to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI.
Unless they have already been commissioned through the Naval Academy or ROTC, those pursuing a Surface Warfare Officer position are required to attend Officer Candidate School. Newly commissioned SWOs can expect an advanced training process that includes comprehensive training at sea and ashore.
Newly commissioned Surface Warfare Officers will be assigned to a surface ship, leading a team of Sailors responsible for a component of the ship - anything from electronics to weapons to engineering systems. In this setting, Officers are working toward full Surface Warfare qualification.
After completing these initial sea tours, Surface Warfare Officers may be selected to serve on high-level staffs, commands or strategic projects or they may be selected to work in recruitment. The ultimate goal for many: to one day command their own ship.
Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.

Qualifications & Requirements
A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement to become a Commissioned Officer.
There are different ways to become a SWO. If you're a high school student or an undergraduate, you can enter through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) or through the U.S. Naval Academy. Those already having a degree attend Officer Candidate School (OCS), a 12-week Navy school in Newport, RI.
All candidates must also be U.S. Citizens.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before or whether you've never served before.
Part-Time Opportunities
There are part-time opportunities available as a Surface Warfare Officer.
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Surface Warfare Officers in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, Surface Warfare Officers may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Surface Warfare Officers in the Navy Reserve serve in an Officer role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with this job, initial training requirements must first be met.

Our Utility Client's System Operations Engineering department is seeking a motivated individual to support the Company’s evolving transmission grid and assist with the industry leading projects we have in progress. Our team is seeking a Senior Business Process Analyst to assist the growing team.
The System Operations Engineering team supports our client's System Operators by maintaining and updating our Energy Management System (EMS). The is a complex software system that receives hundreds of thousands of measurements from substations within a territory and neighboring utilities, makes them available to the System Operators in a variety of views, and performs complex calculations on this data for many different purposes, such as ‘what-if’ scenarios (called Contingency Analysis). This team is also in the midst of two multi-year projects; one of which including partnering with a vendor to build a state-of-the-art synchrophasor-bases EMS as well as upgrading our current EMS.
The BPA will work with the team and leadership, assisting with administrative and general business activities and processes. You will learn our existing processes and workflows within the team, helping to document and improve them, help design and maintain onboarding and training programs, assist with tracking and monitoring metrics, help offload administrative burden, and improve coordination amongst cross-functional teams.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Qualifications:

Why This Role Matters:
This is not a typical Project Manager position.
You'll step into a senior, high-impact role within a respected structural steel fabricator delivering complex commercial projects (200–500 tons) for universities, schools, and major regional and national general contractors.
More importantly, this role offers a clear and realistic path into broader leadership, with long-term succession planning toward General Manager / senior operational leadership for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own structural steel projects from award through fabrication, delivery, and erection
- Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, erectors, and internal teams
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Review contract documents, drawings, shop drawings, and erection plans
- Identify, price, and manage change orders to protect margins
- Coordinate closely with fabrication, shipping, and erection teams
- Attend planning meetings and occasional site visits
- Drive project profitability, accountability, and on-time delivery
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Must-Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in commercial construction
- Strong background in structural steel projects
- Solid understanding of construction contracts and erection sequencing
- Experience working for a structural steel fabricator
- Comfortable managing architecturally complex commercial builds

What We Are Looking For:
CoStar is seeking a Senior Product Manager to continue our momentum of rapid growth. In this role, you will spearhead the development of the product roadmap and delivery of new product features and enhancements across our suite of Leasing Products. This includes defining and documenting user stories, writing & reviewing acceptance criteria, development resource management, and scheduling. You'll also be responsible for user testing, working with our Marketing team to develop collateral and other materials for product launch, and executing thoughtful roll-out strategies. This position is located in Richmond, VA and is in office Monday through Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize user testing, collect feedback and organize into actionable development priorities.
- Plan & execute product/feature deployments to our large subscriber base.
- Use customer data & usage analytics to inform product opportunities and evaluate results.
- Leveraging market and customer insights, build creative products that enhance CoStar customers experience with our products and provide them with tools to make better business decisions.
- Take ownership of the product road map from inception through to release of new features and enhancements.
- Drive product releases in a fast-paced Agile software development environment. This includes writing user stories (requirements), prioritizing releases, maintaining a product roadmap and backlog, and creating release notes.
- Work closely with senior executives, UI design, engineering, QA, marketing and sales to strategize, plan, and build products and plans that meet aggressive expectations on usage and revenue.
- Understand and analyze customer needs and communicate those needs to other team members to build key use cases.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.
- 8+ years of Product Management or Leasing experience with a proven track record delivering industry leading products and solutions.
- Operational experience in the Commercial Real Estate space.
- Familiarity with the needs and demands of those working in commercial real estate.
- Dedication to understanding user needs through research, feedback, and data analysis, with a focus on delivering solutions that provide value and enhance the user experience.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with -functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer support, to drive product development and adoption.
- Experience managing sprint schedules and resources in an agile-scrum development environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience shaping & executing product or data strategy for a SaaS information product, real estate products or similar product presenting business information, reporting and analytics.
- Action-oriented self-starter who can set strategy/business plan and drive execution with a "roll up the sleeves" approach.
- Deeply analytical with an ability to process data in order to make decisions; someone with a bias to being in the weeds and digging into every component of the business.
- Creative problem-solver and conceptual thinker with an ability to understand and leverage detail-oriented and analytical issues as needed.
- Articulate and clear communicator who can successfully communicate across all levels within the organization, including the executive team, clients, and external stakeholders.
- High-horsepower individual with a track record of learning new industries quickly, when necessary.
