Design Engineer

Overview

We are working with a confidential, U.S.-based manufacturer specializing in mission‑critical HVAC and precision air solutions to identify a Design Engineer for a Temp‑to‑Hire opportunity. This role will support a growing engineering team focused on automation, configured‑to‑order products, and lead‑time reduction during an exciting period of transition and growth.

This is a fully remote role, with long‑term potential for conversion based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize CAD models for HVAC and related engineered products with a focus on automation and scalability
• Apply advanced parametric modeling techniques to support automated and configured‑to‑order design workflows
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and R&D to ensure designs are manufacturable and efficient
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro/E, or similar platforms
• Solid understanding of parametric modeling and its application in automated design environments
• Experience with sheet metal design and manufacturing processes
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing‑focused engineering environment
• Demonstrated ability to apply CAD tools to real‑world production challenges

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to automation initiatives within manufacturing or HVAC environments

Build a First-of-Its-Kind Domestic Carbon Platform

An advanced materials venture in Maryland is launching a pilot facility to commercialize a proprietary carbon-conversion process that will establish a fully domestic supply of high-performance synthetic graphite and related materials.

Backed by experienced technical leadership and validated bench-scale chemistry, the team is now entering equipment procurement and pilot plant commissioning. This role offers the opportunity to translate proven chemistry into stable production and help build the technical foundation for commercial expansion.

What You Will Do

In this hands-on role, you will:

• Translate bench-validated chemistry into pilot-scale operating conditions
• Define and refine process parameters and material targets
• Support equipment selection, process design decisions, acceptance testing, and commissioning
• Develop and execute structured test plans to improve yield and consistency
• Interpret material characterization data (XRD, Raman, SEM, GDMS)
• Troubleshoot high-temperature thermal and chemical purification systems
• Establish documentation, safety rigor, and repeatable operating procedures
• Collaborate closely with operations and senior technical leadership

At 6 months:

What You Bring

We are targeting high-performing technical leaders with 7–12 years of experience who are ready to assume expanded ownership in a pilot-scale, high-growth environment.

Experience in graphite is welcome but not required.

Highly relevant backgrounds include:

KEY TASKS

(6) Generate reports and visualizations to communicate findings and trends in imaging data to researchers and stakeholders.

(7) Stay updated with advancements in AI and image analysis techniques relevant to biomedical research and apply this knowledge to enhance IRF capabilities.

(8) Work closely with the other functional area leads at the IRF to integrate imaging analysis results with other data for a comprehensive understanding of viral pathogenesis.

(9) Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures while working in a BSL-4 environment.

(10) Provide guidance on experimental design and implementation and strives to quickly resolve problems; publish results in peer-reviewed journals.

(11) Communicate progress or problems with approved programs and projects to leadership.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

(1) Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field with a focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, or image processing. Candidates possessing master's degree and relevant experience may also be considered.

(2) Experience analyzing multimodality imaging scans, such as parametric image analysis of MRI data

(3) Strong theoretical foundations in machine learning, deep learning, and image analysis techniques with experience working with biomedical imaging data.

(4) Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB along with experience using popular deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.

(5) Familiarity with biomedical imaging data and experience working with image processing libraries such as OpenCV or ITK-SNAP.

(6) Experience with radiomic feature extraction and application to machine learning, feature selection methods such as mRMR, and working with a high-performance computing environment and GitHub repositories

As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will play a key role in implementing

platform engineering, data governance, data science, IT security, and business

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Engineering & AI Enablement

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and
  ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics, operational reporting, and AI/ML use

  transformation, modeling, and orchestration within a modern lakehouse

REQUIREMENTS:

Position Summary:

We are looking for an AWS Dev OpsEngineer with hands-on experience in AWS Tools to help build and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports our data and analytics platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in cloud engineering who is ready to take ownership of infrastructure components and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient solutions. Executes projects to research, proof of concept, and implement new solutions. Maintains awareness of trends and technologies to meet new and emerging stakeholder requirements.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Champion the selection of Data and Analytics platforms and tools to be used across the enterprise.
• Engage with users and vendors to execute technology proof of concepts that validate use cases and the value of new solutions.
• Onboard new platforms and tools to ensure solutions are adopted effectively across the organization.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to identify tooling gaps and inefficiencies and partner to implement solutions for their needs.
• Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Configure and manage core AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Glue, Redshift and VPC Networking.
• Support data engineering and analytics teams by provisioning and optimizing cloud resources for data pipelines and analytics workloads.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like CloudWatch.
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation.
• Ensure infrastructure security through proper IAM policies, encryption, and network configurations.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and solution architects to improve infrastructure design and performance.
• Document infrastructure processes and configurations for operational transparency and team knowledge sharing.
• Ability to work with ambiguity and organize requirements to identify options.
• Ability to build productive relationships and collaborate with partners and stakeholders.
• Proficient in managing and maintaining Linux-based systems, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Experienced with shell scripting, system security, user management, and automation tools to ensure reliable and efficient server operations.

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a focus on AWS.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data and data storage technology RDS Postgres, S3
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).
• Experience with AWS services relevant to data and analytics (e.g., Glue, Redshift).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Git, GitHub, CI/CD, Docker).
• Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Understanding of cloud networking, security, and cost optimization principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Associate Developer or Associate Machine Learning Engineer).
• Exposure to big data tools and frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hive). Airflow, Control M, Streamsets
