Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern position is a full-time opportunity for an engineer student to gain practical experience in development, improvement, and maintenance of manufacturing processes, documentation, validations, and production readiness activities. The Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical Oncology (THNMO) at MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a full-time academic appointment at the level of professor. This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an exciting and active group of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators. The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing research programs of the department focusing on carcinogenesis and prevention, treatment, biomarker development, and other projects in support of personalized medicine. The faculty member will have access to THNMO's substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal models, molecular pathology laboratories, and educational/training programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Clinical care, and teaching in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology and will participate in clinical research trial enrollments for our patients. The successful candidate will be expected to broaden a clinical practice to our Houston area locations and develop integrated patient care team.
CARE OVERVIEW:
Clinical - 80%
Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner in standards set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, and the American College of Physicians, properly balanced with other academic activities.
Must be capable of providing complete and thorough history and physical patient examinations. Must be able to perform invasive procedures as dictated by the physician's subspecialty. Develop and maintain a clinical practice for patients referred to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Provide physician staffing for the appropriate clinic at a level commensurate with that which would be provided by other internists with the same level of training and experience.

Complete patient documentation for medical records within time frames provided by institutional policy. Will require dictating in a clear and concise manner, and visual review of documents.
Correspond as appropriate in writing or in telephone conversations with physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
Keep abreast of current approaches in the management of patients through attendance at continuing education conferences in the specialty. This will require listening to and assimilating information from the conferences.
Request appropriate consultations for patients by phone conversations or in writing to other physicians.
Provide a role model as a practitioner and scientist for faculty, fellows and residents and students.
Provide peer review for assessing the clinical and research practices of faculty within the department.

The Tankerman is directly responsible and accountable to the Master or his relief, working directly under him and following his instruction(s) The Tankerman/ Person is responsible for all barge(s) loading and unloading(s).
It is the duty of the Tankerman/ Person to oversee cargo transfer operations which are covered by extensive laws and regulations of the U.S. Coast Guard and other federal and local government agencies. The objective of the Tankerman/ Person is safe, pollution-free and efficient cargo movements and transfers and to the safety of the environment and to the public.
The Tankerman/ Person is primary accountable for his own health, safety, and cleanliness. He must be familiar with Martin Marine - SMS-Safety Management System , VRP- Vessel Response Policies, procedures, safety rules and regulations, and must abide by them at all times.
The Tankerman/ Person are responsible for the safety, operational, maintenance and housekeeping duties while serving on a Martin vessel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational
a) Making up the tow
b) Dropping, spotting and switching barges at docks;
c) Assisting and switching barges at docks;
d) Standing lookout, or riding the head of the tow as a lookout; and,
e) Performing the various tasks necessary to carry out the above, such as making a coupling, operating winches and ratchets, and line handling, include splicing and throwing lines.
f) Confirming with and receiving orders from the Captain, Relief Captain, Mate

Job Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School or Equivalent, skilled related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Tankerman is required to be coast guard certified to conduct necessary transfers of the various liquid cargoes handled by Martin Marine. The Tankerman must be able to demonstrate the special handle loading and discharging of cargo and fuels. On the job training, experience and the ability to read and understand the tankerman manual are all necessary requirements.

About the Role:

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical bolting, heat treating, or field machining preferred.
- Experience performing maintenance and turnaround services to refining, chemical, midstream, and power.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- Possess a current TWIC card or have the ability to obtain one.
- Valid driver license with a clear driving record
- Demonstrated mechanical ability.
- Must be able travel a minimum of 75% of the time.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to pass a non-DOT medical exam, drug and alcohol test, respirator qualification test, and federal class background check.
- Ability to work at heights or in enclosed spaces.
- Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Detail Oriented – Ability to pay attention to the details of a project or task.
- Safety Awareness – Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.

Essential Functions
- Perform onsite bolting, heat treating or field machining work at customer locations.
- Troubleshoot onsite equipment and determine the proper methods fulfill customer’s needs and specific applications.
- Operate a variety of tools for field work.
- Properly document and/or record work performed utilizing required internal and customer job-related forms/paperwork.
- Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers.
- Meet and communicate with customers in a professional manner.
- Operate and preventively maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Work in accordance with all safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Ability to lift 5-25 pounds frequently and ability to lift, up to, 50 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
Is frequently exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
