To Provide Any And All Elements Of Care In The Assessment, Planning, Interventions, Evaluation Of The Perioperative Patient. The Asc Rn Will Demonstrate An Energetic, Enthusiastic Patient Centered Approach To Care That Reaches Beyond The Boundaries Of His/Her Primary Locus Of Care. The Asc Rn Will Assist In The Overall Functioning Of The Asc Performing Any And All Duties For Which He/She Is Competent. Responsibilities
- 1. Assesses The Patient's Physical And Psychosocial Condition On An Ongoing Basis Throughout The Continuum Of Care.
- 2. Develops, Communicates And Documents A Plan Of Care Reflecting Individualized Patient Problems And Interventions To Achieve Desired Outcomes, Involving The Patient, Family And Healthcare Team In This Process.
- 3. Implements And Coordinates This Plan Of Care In Collaboration With The Perioperative Team.
- 4. Evaluates The Effectiveness Of The Plan Of Care, Patient's Response To Care, And Readiness For Discharge. Revises The Plan Of Care As Needed.
- 5. Plans For Education After Assessing The Individual Learning Needs And Readiness Of The Patient And Family. Documents Education Provided.
- 6. Provides Preceptorship To New Staff.
- 7. Demonstrates Ability To Organize The Schedule As The Charge Nurse.
- 8. Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Graduate Of An Accredited School Of Nursing; Bsn Preferred. Proficient In Use Of Computer Software To Include Electronic Patient Records. Must Have Ability To Use Internet For Literature Searches Regarding Care For Patients.
EXPERIENCE
Two Years Operating Room Experience Working In A Variety Of Surgical Specialties Performing Both Scrub And Circulating Duties Required. Ambulatory Surgery Facility Experience Given Preference. Has Demonstrated Independent Thinking In Previous Position And Willing To And Capable Of Applying That Skill In A New Environment. Has Demonstrated Critical Judgment And Decision Making In Other Situations In The Absence Of Manager.
LICENSURE
Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs responsible clinical care in collaboration with the unit physician and under approved protocols, manages the medical aspects of care in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care and counsel, and health teachings of persons who are ill, injured or infirm, or experiencing changes in normal health processes. Promotes health maintenance and prevention of illness in a clinical setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Obtains medical histories, organizes relevant data, performs physical examinations, and suggests pertinent laboratory, radiographic or other studies that are needed to establish or support a diagnosis.- Performs preliminary reviews of radiographs, laboratory data, ECGs and other relevant clinical information; formulates and order (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner license) therapeutic regimens for treatment of pathologic states or disabling entities.
- Documents histories, physical examinations, and relevant clinical information, ensuring adequate documentation of existing medical conditions; medically classifies patients according to physical, functional and emotional capabilities.
- Monitors treatment progress and protocols of patients in chronic care clinical settings; counsels patients on preventive medicine regimens; reviews medical records or therapeutic regimens to ensure proper content and appropriateness of medical regimen.
- Provides patient counseling and health instruction about medical problems, nutrition, medication and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
- Serves as representative and emissary of the physician in delegated matters of related duties as required. Interdisciplinary coordination and clinical care responsibilities.
- Documents all healthcare encounters and relevant clinical information in the electronic medical records.
- Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
- Performs related duties as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Standard hospital, clinical, correctional and/or surgical environment.
Work environment is located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
For Physician Assistant
- Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Licensed Physician Assistant by the Texas Physician Assistant Board/Texas Medical Board (TPAB/TMB).
- No experience required.
Current students who have not yet completed their physician assistant program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their NCCPA certification or TPAB/TMB physician assistant license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program, NCCPA certification and TPAB/TMB physician assistant licensure.
For Nurse Practitioner
- Completion of a graduate level (or higher) nurse practitioner program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).
- Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON).
Current RNs who have not yet completed their nurse practitioner program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their ANCC/AANP certification or APRN nurse practitioner license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program, ANCC/AANP certification and APRN nurse practitioner licensure.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
