Jabil has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and technically proficient Principal Electrical Engineer to engage in the design, fabrication, and integration of electrical systems for data center power and cooling products, as well as factory enablement projects. This role includes full-stack electrical design from generator systems to AI rack integration zones, with a focus on PDUs, UPS systems, MV/HV power distribution, phased power infrastructure, and controls architecture. The Sr. Principal Electrical Integration Engineer will manage and oversee the electrical systems essential for the data center, energy storage systems, and HVAC applications. What will you do?
Product & System Design:
- Knowledge of high-efficiency power conversion and point-of-load regulation for AI/ML server racks (BBU, rPDU).
- Understanding of rack power zoning, load balancing, and redundancy strategies for tiered compute workloads.
- Ensure electrical systems are properly integrated into fabricated enclosures and structural assemblies.
- Lead the electrical design and integration of UPS systems, power conversion units, and safety interlocks.
- Develop and maintain single-line and three-line diagrams for power distribution systems, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with NEC, IEEE, and UL standards.
- Design and validate three-phase power systems, including load balancing, fault protection, and redundancy strategies for high-availability environments.

Factory & Facility Integration:
- Design end-to-end electrical distribution systems from generator and utility interface to AI rack integration zones.
- Coordinate with cross functional teams to ensure electrical infrastructure aligns with facility layout, safety codes, and operational requirements.
- Plan and implement power redundancy, load segmentation, and scalable distribution architectures to support high-density compute environments.
- Ensure proper grounding, EMI shielding, and thermal management across all facility-level electrical systems.
Fabrication & Implementation:
- Define fabrication processes including panel building, cable routing, and system integration, ensuring manufacturability and serviceability.
- Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and thermal modeling using tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and validation testing to ensure compliance with UL, IEC, NEC, CE, RoHS, and REACH standards.
- Interface with suppliers and customers resolve fabrication and quality issues, and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Support prototype builds, field deployments, and customer engagements to gather feedback and refine designs.
Controls Architecture:
- Develop and implement electrical controls architecture for power and cooling systems, including PLCs, SCADA integration, and remote monitoring capabilities.
- Define control logic, sensor integration, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, BACnet, SNMP) for intelligent power and cooling management.
- Collaborate with software and automation teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems with facility and product-level infrastructure.

Leadership & Documentation:
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation including BOMs, test procedures, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Provides executive leadership for Jeffco Public Schools' comprehensive school safety, security, and emergency management enterprise. Develops and oversees the district's school safety strategy, integrating prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery across 168 campuses over 774 square miles and serving approximately 74,000 students and 14,000 employees. Directs a complex, 24/7 Department of School Safety with responsibility for strategic planning, business operations, workforce management, and performance oversight. Design and develop electrical systems and wiring harnesses for new equipment programs and retrofit kits. Create electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and routing, including high/low voltage connectors
Integrate sensors, controllers, and harnesses into machine platforms using CAD, ensuring proper fit and function.
Develop routed electrical solutions that meet functional, environmental, and manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust designs.
Gather and clarify technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into executable work packages.
Serve as the onsite technical lead, coordinating execution and distributing work to an offshore engineering team.
Review and validate designs, drawings, and documentation produced by offshore resources.
Generate detailed design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), connector tables, and wiring specifications.
Support build, test, and validation activities as needed.
Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience designing electrical systems and wiring harnesses
Experience supporting both new product development and retrofit programs.
Strong understanding of routed systems, sensors, and electrical integration on heavy equipment.
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate work across multiple locations.
Preferred:
Prior exposure to global engineering teams and offshore delivery models.
Proficiency in Crep for 3D modeling and wiring harness design, understanding of electrical schematics, and knowledge of EMC/EMI standards.
Familiarity with Creo CAD tools and harness design best practices.

The harness engineer is a very cross-functional role at the convergence of the avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams, with significant hands-on work designing, building, integrating, and testing our harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware; expect to broaden your design and application experience. This position can be filled locally or hybrid with frequent travel to our facility in Mountain View, California.
Responsibilities
In your role as Sr. Harness Engineer you will work with the avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to define the harness architecture, including routing, bulkhead planning, and manufacturing and integration processes. You'll be responsible for the detailed design of both flight and test harnesses, and you'll be working with the production technicians and A&Ps to get the harnesses built and installed on the aircraft. You'll have the opportunity to design, install, and test your hardware on a remotely operated aircraft, and you'll be an instrumental part of how our hardware teams come together on the airplane.
Basic Success Criteria
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
5+ years experience in electrical harness design
Ability to route harnessing (both in CAD and physically in the airplane) in a strategic manner
Experience defining routing and bulkhead requirements
Experience working with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and cable/wire protection methods

Be logical, inquisitive, and eager to both teach and learn
