Job Description
Job Title: Paralegal
Location: Phoenix, AZ 85053
Duration: 6+ months
Pay rate: $35 - $37/hr on W2
Shift: Mon – Fri 8.00 AM – 5.00 PM PST
Job Summary:
- Provides professional-level legal support, including drafting legal documents, research, recordkeeping, and assistance to attorneys in the Legal department.
- The Paralegal will draft form contracts for attorney review, conduct research, memoranda, and legal and business communications.
- Tracks deadlines imposed by law/regulation and follows-up with attorneys and stakeholders to ensure that deadlines are met.
- The role will provide support to the Legal department’s transactional functions.
Critical Requirements & Screening Criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree
- Paralegal certificate or in the process of obtaining it
- Experience & Longevity: Minimum 5+ years Paralegal experience, with a key focus on appeals/denials. Ability to draft very professional letters (they will be writing letters to beneficiaries who have had their claims denied; both active military and veterans).
- DOD Investigation: Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and able to pass a Department of Defense background check covering 7-10 years of history.
- Technical Proficiency: General admin test – typing wpm, 10-key, general/basic Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, PP etc.). Skills testing scores must be included with every submittal.
- Writing Examples: Would like to see a few legal writing examples from candidate
Role Profile:
- The successful candidate will be a proactive, resourceful professional who can:
- Manage and prioritize very high volume of document tracking (15-30 at one time for example)
- Demonstrate exceptional grammar, writing, and communication skills (ability to proof, edit, and compose documents).
