The temporary Graduate Permit is time limited until the graduate can take the NCLEX and complete the fingerprint background check for full licensure.

Servers (Diet Aides) are responsible for receiving resident meal orders, filling/packing resident meal orders and delivering meals. 

You will work closely with Healthcare residents and work in conjuntion with the Healthcare teams to support resident care. 

Other areas of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sanitizing kitchen/dining areas and restocking supplies. 

• Must be 16 years of age or older
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents
• Prior experience working with the elderly is strongly preferred
• Execellent customer service skills required

Description

The NYU Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care (a nationally recognized division-- ranked #1 in Geriatrics in US News & World Report), in the Department of Medicine, is seeking a full time Clinician Educator at the Assistant level.

The candidate will provide inpatient clinical services for geriatric patients including primary management orthopedic patients, geriatric consultations and assisted with transition of care at our NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn location.

Teaching responsibilities of this position include precepting and mentorship of geriatric medicine fellows, and residents.

The NYU Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care is a vibrant program committed to improving the quality of life of older adults and caring for people in need of compassionate support and symptom relief from serious illness. We are also committed to the cultivation of the next generation’s leaders in the field, and provide mentoring and support to assure optimal professional development of our faculty.

Salary: $238,000-$248,000 annually

Clinical Role and Responsibilities:

• Perform inpatient and emergency department geriatrics consultations in alignment with the mission of the service

• Preoperative and postoperative management of medical conditions in orthopedic patients in collaboration with the orthopedic team

• Evaluate and manage consults addressing the key Geriatric Syndromes including, but not limited to, falls, delirium, impaired mobility, impaired cognition, elder abuse, multi-morbidity, delirium, and complex goals of care in patients >65 years old.

• Work collaboratively within a combined physician/ advanced practice provider consult team, as well as maintain close coordination with the Palliative Care, Neurology, and Psychiatry consultant teams also serving this vulnerable population

• Actively participate in the training of fellows, house staff, medical students, and other learners rotating through the service; contribute to fulfillment of the established curriculum

• Work to develop and maintain individual and service consult volume through collaboration with primary surgical, internal medicine, and emergency medicine teams

• Weekend call will be equal and commensurate

Quality and Metrics:

• Participate in quality improvement activities to evaluate the quality of the services provided based on defined outcomes (eg time to consult completion, effect on length of stay, advance care planning compliance)

• Maintain appropriate billing and documentation consistent with the standards of the Division and the Institution

• Individual wRVUs should be consistent with regional norms defined and benchmarked by the Division based on Nationally reported data

Qualifications

• Current New York Medical License

• Board certification in Geriatrics

• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills preferred

• Clinical and administrative experience preferred

The Clinical Manager will work under the supervision of the Nursing Director following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice and Code of Ethics. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing care of patients of a variety of ages and both genders as appropriate to the provision of care. Assists in the development and evaluation of personnel and maintains all operational aspects of the assigned areas on a twenty-four hour bases in collaboration with Nursing Director, physicians and nursing administration. Provides professional guidance to personnel and insures adherence to established policies, procedures and accepted standards of care. • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
