Counsel will help the Chicago Housing Authority (“CHA”) achieve its mission and goals, primarily by protecting its legal interests. Counsel will serve on CHA’s Office of the General Counsel Litigation Team. A key focus of this position will be to lead, oversee and handle a high volume of eviction-related matters. In addition to litigating cases, Counsel will be responsible for client counseling (including analyzing case-related information and preparing reports) and conducting training.
Counsel will supervise and manage CHA’s overall eviction-related needs, which include, but are not limited to: providing thought leadership; assessing, recommending, and making improvements in existing systems and protocols; supervising, mentoring and working closely with colleagues who perform eviction-related work; and collaborating with other CHA personnel and third-parties (including property management firms, security firms, social service organizations, police personnel and other governmental agencies) to advance CHA’s interests.
The Office of General Counsel advances CHA’s interests in multiple substantive areas related to litigation and transactions, including, but not limited to the following: personal injury litigation, administrative hearings and administrative review proceedings, commercial litigation, discrimination and civil rights related litigation, and transactions work (e.g., contracts, and real estate matters). Experience in one or more of these areas and a growth mindset that welcomes additional opportunities to learn and serve CHA is a plus. As a member of the Litigation Team, Counsel will also be expected to maintain a personal caseload of assignments in substantive areas outside of and in addition to the eviction realm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As to eviction cases, duties will include, but are not limited to, providing representation and functional leadership to advance CHA’s interests, conducting eviction-related trainings, conducting pre-suit reviews, investigations and counseling, providing supervision and guidance during the pendency of eviction litigation (including, but not limited to, initiating cases by preparing pleadings and related documents, serving as lead counsel, conducting discovery, or assisting during trials, and with post-trial matters, including appeals), and evaluating performance of attorneys and staff as needed.
- Ensuring up-to-date status tracking and reporting on filed eviction cases.
- Handling all aspects of general litigation involving CHA and related duties and serving as lead and trial counsel in state and federal court, and in administrative forums.
- Evaluating issues and disputes in the pre-litigation stage to determine appropriate course of action that fairly balances competing interests and facilitates favorable resolution.
- Providing research, analysis, and written recommendations on housing related regulations, CHA policies, federal and state law, and municipal ordinances.
- Advising client departments on how to achieve goals in compliance with applicable policies, rules, and law, and leading such initiatives as needed.
- Assisting the Deputy General Counsel and other members of the Office of General Counsel as needed, including by preparing other required litigation-related reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Juris Doctor degree, admission to the Illinois bar and good standing. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years of litigation experience, including strong experience litigating eviction and/or cases in other substantive areas of need for CHA’s Litigation Team.

Responsibilities
- Review legal conflicts for new business.
- Be the primary point of contact for outside counsel guidelines (OCGs) received from clients and work with partners and administrative stakeholders to prepare responses to clients that align with firm engagement policies.

- Provide clear documentation regarding resolutions of conflicts to the Attorneys and NBI Coordinators; provide clear waiver language as may be necessary and obtain waivers before files are opened.

Position Description:
The Assistant General Counsel will report to, support, and provide legal advice to the company’s General Counsel, Senior General Counsel, the company’s General Partner, and company employees. The Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and revising a variety of different legal documents, ranging from construction materials supply contracts to real estate leases and purchase agreements. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Corporate Counsel is responsible for assisting the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel in executing their duties to protect the HomeVestors brand and ensuring a best-in-class experience for our independently owned franchises and their customers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for company agreements with franchises necessitated by the events in a franchise life cycle, including franchise agreements, franchise renewals, changes to franchise agreements, defaults, terminations, and related documentation.
Manage the work of Legal Department staff, with the assistance of General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel.
Create and present training for franchisees and development agents. This includes new franchise training class presentations, webinar presentations to development agents and franchisees, and presentations at conventions.
Assist with updates to the annual Franchise Disclosure Document, franchise agreement, system standards documents, and other compliance rules and documentation.

Position Summary
The Labor and Employment Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor on all employment and labor matters for Relay Resources. This role will lead employee and union relations strategy and compliance with federal and state employment laws. The role will partner with Relay Resources HR leadership to foster a disability-centric, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace. The Counsel will act as a trusted advisor to executives and managers on labor negotiations, grievance handling, workforce policies, and internal investigations of employee complaints.
Key Responsibilities
Labor Relations Leadership
- Serve as the lead strategist promoting collaborative labor relations and the lead negotiator for collective bargaining agreements.
- Manage union relationships with SEIU (Service Employees International Union) and LIUNA (Laborers’ International Union of North America), and ensure compliance with labor contracts.
- Advise on contract administration, grievance handling, and arbitration processes, including strategy, resolution, and prevention.
- Maintain effective relationships with union leadership and industry labor relations contacts, and monitor trends related to wages, hours, working conditions, and benefits.
- Ensure Relay Resources team leaders have the tools and training required to effectively create a disability-inclusive work environment, consistent with customer requirements and in compliance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Employment Law Compliance
- Provide guidance and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws (including but not limited to FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA, NLRA, and related wage/hour, leave, anti-discrimination, recruitment, onboarding, workplace safety, and data privacy requirements).
- Draft and review employment policies, handbooks, and procedures.
- Monitor regulatory changes and update practices accordingly.
- Manage investigations and responses to any federal or state employment claims or inquiries.
- Audit Relay Resources employment practices and records to ensure compliance and provide solutions for gaps, training needs, and / or compliance software or technology solutions.
Employee Relations
- Partner with HR and leadership on complex employee relations issues and dispute resolution. Provide consultation and support in disciplinary matters.
- Conduct internal investigations into workplace complaints and advise on corrective actions.
- Support Relay’s initiatives related to disability, equity, and inclusion from a legal perspective. Strengthen organizational effectiveness through clear policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure team leaders have tools and training to manage employee situations consistent with Relay’s disability-centric values and culture.
- Use systems, tools, and data to identify trends, report findings, and recommend process improvements.
Risk Management & Training
- Develop and deliver training for managers on labor and employment compliance.
- Mitigate legal risks through proactive strategies and documentation.
- Manage outside counsel relationships when specialized expertise is required.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, set goals, and provide direction for the Manager of Employee and Labor Relations and the Labor Relations Specialist.
- Provide coaching and guidance for the HR team members in all legal and compliance matters.
- Develop effective working partnerships with Relay Resources function leads and Relay Resources Team Leaders. Provide counsel on all legal and employment compliance matters. Recommend practices to mitigate employee and labor relations issues.
- Represent Relay’s values, culture, and policies with Union Leadership and representatives.
Disability Inclusion and Accessibility
- Advance the Relay Resources mission to transform workplaces and communities by championing disability inclusion through legally sound and strategic practices.
- Serve as the primary legal advisor across a disability-centric organization.
- Guide and support leaders in implementing accessible, compliant, and equitable practices.
- Actively engage with emerging issues and best practices in disability law and inclusion, and bring forward ideas and guidance that strengthen organizational impact and credibility.

Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in Oregon (or ability to obtain) within 6 months.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in employment and labor law, including union negotiations and grievance handling.
- Knowledge of FMLA, FLSA, ADA, ADEA, NLRA, wage/hour laws, and other employment regulations, with experience monitoring updates, interpreting, and applying laws and regulations in day-to-day workplace matters
- Communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with experience explaining complex legal guidance clearly, working collaboratively in negotiations, and identifying practical, compliant solutions. Commitment to Relay Resources’ mission of disability inclusion and workplace equity.
Preferred Experience
- Prior in-house counsel experience in a unionized environment.

We are seeking a highly motivated attorney to join our legal team as Corporate Counsel/Sr. Corporate Counsel. This role will support the company’s public company reporting obligations, corporate governance processes, compliance initiatives, and contracting activities across the organization. Title and level will be determined based on experience and scope of responsibility.
This position is well-suited for a life sciences attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, clinical-stage biotech environment and enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance. The role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a broad range of legal matters in a growing organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with the General Counsel and senior leadership, partnering with teams across Finance, Investor Relations, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Technical Operations, and HR, and coordinating with external counsel as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Securities & Corporate Governance
- Assist in the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and Section 16 filings.
- Partner with Finance and Investor Relations to support the company’s disclosure processes, planning and drafting, including for earnings releases, investor presentations, and proxy materials.
- Monitor and advise on securities law compliance, including Nasdaq listing standards, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and insider trading policies.
- Provide legal support for capital markets transactions, including equity offerings and financings common in clinical-stage biotech companies.
- Support Board of Directors and committee governance activities, including preparation of board materials and maintenance of governance documentation.

- Contribute to the development of contract templates, playbooks, and contracting best practices to improve efficiency and consistency.
Cross-Functional Legal Support
- Partner with the General Counsel and legal team on a variety of matters affecting the organization.
- Provide legal support on issues arising throughout the drug development lifecycle, including regulatory, operational, and compliance considerations.

Qualifications:

Compensation
Target Salary Range: $234,000 -$286,000
*Base Compensation for this role will depend on a number of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Base pay is only one component of the company’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the company’s cash bonus and equity incentive programs.
