As Sr. Safety Specialist, you will join forces with the Manager of Safety and Loss Prevention to head up workplace safety initiatives for one of our distribution center operations! - Provides subject matter expertise either through education, training, and/or experience in multiple areas including environmental management, compliance, occupational safety, risk management and/or occupational health
- Ensure OSHA compliance within a HelloFresh/Green Chef Facility including but not limited to: Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT's); New Hire safety training and ongoing safety training; Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding and Chemical Safety; all necessary recordkeeping and reporting including OSHA 300 Logs
- Assist management team during accident or injury investigations and root cause analysis
- Act as the management team's subject matter expert for safety and security questions
- Ensure visibility of HSE initiatives at the site level (Behavior Safety, Safe Work Permit process, Safety Observations, Near Miss, etc) to all levels of operations management and recommend improvements in effectiveness. Demonstrate sound judgment based on observations and evaluation, by site, to determine safety meeting effectiveness and appropriate level of mentoring for safety meeting facilitators. Collect and analyze data to identify safety or injury trends and develop corrective actions
- Ensure contractors and visitors follow HelloFresh safety policies during their time on-site
- Assist with the site emergency action plan and liaison with local first responders when needed
- Conduct a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) of all routine and non-routine tasks performed on-site
- Promote safer forklift operations through training, observation and coaching operators
- Develop training materials including toolbox talks, standard operating procedures (SOP's) and others
- Manage the relationship with site security and ensures security services are being provided for each DC

The Environmental Health and Safety team is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager of Safety, you will serve as a site safety manager supporting site leadership. You are responsible for driving safe processes and ensuring compliance to all safety regulations. As well as being responsible for providing safety expertise leveraging lean principles and the hierarchy of controls to ensure the safety of our team members. You will develop and deliver safe processes through engineering and ergonomic solutions in partnership with building and HQ leadership. You will need to coordinate extensively with cross-functional groups such as Operations, HR, Food Safety & Quality, Operational Excellence, and others. You will build and deliver on-time programs that support operational growth where experimentation, imagination, innovation, and results are measured.
A successful Sr. Manager of Safety will have strong leadership skills, be detail-oriented, resilient, a quick decision maker, work with data, and possess a commitment to getting things right. You must be highly determined to drive permanent removal of hazard root causes and strive for the highest quality of service is provided in an efficient, effective, and proactive manner. This role will require granular analysis, tactical execution of Safety functions, site travel, (20%) and project management. - You will identify trends and areas of risk within your building and support operations in corrective measures
- Continuously improve the safety culture through instruction and training of Safety and Operations leaders on safety programs.
- You will assess performance, communicate to all levels of management, and ensure safety is incorporated into supply chain processes and escalate and report critical issues, compliance gaps and emerging risks for the network.
- You will also maintain safety subject matter expertise, credentials and engage industry resources as appropriate.
- Create weekly business reviews of projects, incidents, trend analysis (if any) and project statuses

Safety Processes:
- Review metrics and incident details weekly, and support operations in determining root cause and corrective measures.
- Ensure safety programs and rollouts are implemented. Monitor for execution.
- Utilizes 6SIGMA and/or other analysis tools as appropriate to identify safety solutions for unique processes.
- Perform floor walks to interact with the team, audit for compliance and execution of safety programs.
- Assists with specialized safety program development and implementation.
- Solicits feedback and identifies benchmarking opportunities within the industry to identify tools, processes, systems and equipment to reduce the risk of injury.
- The ability to lead a team of Safety managers both with direct and indirect oversight.
Compliance and regulatory matters
- Responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of Federal and State OSHA regulations.
- Ensures safety processes are followed to maintain compliance with regulations.
- Supports the development and follow up of any remediation plans due to safety related citations
- Acts as a subject matter expert resource to field teams on safety related regulatory compliance issues.
- Works closely with other Compliance partners, including Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, and Field Compliance Team to address team member health exposure issues that are related to safety enforcement activities.
Incident Response
- Deploy to other locations in the event support is needed or to perform cross building audit activities

Build working relationships with business unit leaders, focusing in the areas of construction safety. Delivers programs to train employees in the fundamentals of occupational safety. Interprets and facilitates implementation of policies and procedures relating to construction occupational health and safety. Works closely with all levels of the organization as well as the contractors to ensure all work is performed to company safety standards, OSHA, and all workplace safety laws.
Job Duties:
Conduct Safety Initiatives
1. Collect, analyze, and interpret existing, new and emerging safety regulations to initiate corporate compliance strategies. Collaborate with other Consultants, where appropriate.
2. Develop (or facilitate diverse teams to develop) programs, policies and procedures and coordinate implementation to assure the health and safety of personnel while controlling company losses.
3. Analyze contractor safety performance indicators to identify trends, improvement opportunities, or specific intervention needs, and provide consultation from an expert perspective to achieve effective solutions.
4. Assure effective implementation of contractor safety programs through auditing, inquiry, observation, and networking, leveraging the best practices.
5. Identify needs, develop and deliver fundamental, technical, or customized safety training programs tailored to various levels within the organization, utilizing outside resources where applicable.
6. Participate, and/or consult on various corporate and business unit safety committees, task forces and/or safety meetings.
7. Review contractor accident investigations and make recommendations to prevent new or recurring accidents.
8. Acts as a source for safety equipment consultation and information for the BU.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Associate degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related field is preferred. A combination of education, training/certification, and experience with large scale construction projects in lieu of education will be considered.
· The Safety Consultant – Construction requires at least 3 to 5 years of experience providing safety services to large construction projects. Utility experience desired.
· Experience in regulatory compliance, best practice, case management, and contractor oversight
· Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite
