Position Overview
The Systems Engineer – Cutter Operations and Scheduling provides hands-on systems engineering and architectural support for cutter server recapitalization and operational sustainment efforts. This role supports the full lifecycle of cutter server environments, including planning, scheduling, engineering, deployment, maintenance, and modernization activities across both classified and unclassified networks.
The position plays a critical role in ensuring cutter server infrastructure is delivered, configured, sustained, and upgraded in alignment with operational requirements, maintenance cycles, and security standards. The Systems Engineer collaborates closely with logistics, engineering support teams, and operational crews to ensure reliable, secure, and timely server support.
Responsibilities
- Provide systems engineering support for cutter server recapitalization and sustainment activities across classified and unclassified environments, supporting the full lifecycle of server builds, deployments, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Coordinate and schedule cutter server recap activities, including managing server requests, inventory, and logistics in collaboration with warehouse, engineering support, and operational teams.
- Build, configure, and validate server images on procured hardware in accordance with approved standards, supporting deployments to cutters and Engineering Support Detachment (ESD) locations.
- Support server installation, configuration, testing, and operational validation in coordination with ESD teams and cutter crews.
- Perform operating system upgrades and modernization efforts to address end-of-life platforms and improve security and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware and software issues, providing timely support to minimize operational impact.
- Research and evaluate server hardware and image configurations, supporting testing and implementation of new or updated cutter server solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and support required technical documentation and TCTO-related artifacts, ensuring compliance with engineering, configuration management, and audit requirements.
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
- 3 – 5 years of experience in computer systems engineering, systems architecture, or enterprise server support
- Hands-on experience supporting server builds, configurations, and deployments
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments in production systems
- Familiarity with classified and unclassified network environments (e.g., NIPR/SIPR)
- Prior experience supporting cutter, vessel, shipboard, or afloat platforms.
- Experience coordinating technical activities across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation
