Job Description
- Maintain and repair small tools (electric and gas) and light equipment in the shop and in the field
- Inspect equipment to identify service and repair needs and prioritize work appropriately
- Communicate directly with field superintendents about issues, timelines, and readiness for use
- Perform routine preventive maintenance using manufacturer checklists and service guidelines
- Test equipment after repairs to confirm issues are resolved before returning it to service
- Document service work and maintain accurate service records
- Clean and wash equipment as needed to keep the fleet job-ready
- Travel to field locations to perform repairs/service when required
- Follow OSHA and DOT safety practices and proactively identify/correct shop hazards
- Support other duties as assigned to keep operations running efficiently
Qualifications
- Experience performing maintenance and repairs on small tools and light construction equipment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
- Reliable personal transportation to and from the shop (own transportation required)
- Basic computer skills (typing, email, internet) for documentation and communication

*Position Description*
The Shop Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel equipment, fleet vehicles, trailers, Serco 300 loaders, front‑end loaders, skid steers, and other shop machinery. Core duties include performing inspections, completing preventive maintenance, and conducting repairs such as brake and airbag replacements, airline fixes, and engine component repairs on semi-trucks and equipment. The role also involves diagnosing and correcting vehicle issues, making necessary adjustments, and keeping accurate maintenance records. · Perform brake and airbag replacements and repair air lines.
· Repair conveyor belts, motors, bearings, and pulleys in the conveyor system.

· Complete preventive maintenance, component upgrades, corrosion control, and winterization.

- Must possess a valid driver's license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate)
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position works the majority of time in the equipment shop. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 75 lbs. At times you may be required to move/operate equipment to figure out what maintenance needs to be performed. The noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate to high. This position also spends a portion of time in an office environment. May, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Must be flexible to work Saturdays and overtime as needed. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Compensation:
Up to $15.65 per hour
Number includes an average tip of $5.65 per hour. What we strive for: a fun environment, great co-workers, and a chance to make a difference in your community. What we don't guarantee: tip averages. Actual tips may vary based on a variety of factors including location, position, hours, and quality of service. Average hourly tips are based on 2024 reporting.
