d.     Coordinates daily scheduling and staffing of the Med/Surg and Swing Bed units, assuring the patient care delivered supports the mission and values of CMC. 

e.      Assesses the needs of the patient population, plans for those needs, intervenes based on the assessment and planning process and evaluates the outcomes and applies the clinical discipline of professional nursing through the nursing process

f.       Assures Nurses perform technical tasks and procedures safely and accurately

g.     Assists with the organization of ongoing communication among all health care providers and staff. Develops collaborative relationships to enhance quality of service

h.     Maintains effective communications

i.       Provides for optimal patient/resident safety

j.       Respects patient's rights to privacy and dignity

2.     Accountability/Responsibilities include the following:

About the Clinician's Workday

The hospitalist will provide comprehensive night shift coverage from 7 PM to 7 AM at two health system locations, managing adult inpatient medical cases with census ranging from 12-15 patients per day plus intermittent admissions and discharges. The clinician must be board certified or board eligible, hold an active Virginia license, and maintain BLS, ACLS, and DEA certifications while being open to working at both an 80-bed and 95-bed facility. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, ordering laboratory and diagnostic tests, writing orders, managing admissions and discharges, diagnosing injuries and illnesses, prescribing medications, providing patient education and counseling, and managing common conditions such as infectious illnesses, respiratory issues, flu, and dehydration using Epic EMR documentation.
