Primary Purpose
The Biostatistics Intern is responsible for working closely with biostatisticians on biomedical research projects across a variety of therapeutic areas. Interns meet with epidemiologists, project coordinators, and biomedical investigators and will contribute to the design, analysis and reporting of clinical research projects.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the review of sample size and other statistical aspects of study design
- Perform statistical analysis and prepare summary reports and visualizations
- Perform quality control (QC) for statistical deliverables prepared by other staff
- Participate in presentations to biomedical investigators or manuscript preparation
- Assist with review and finalization of research data sets for statistical analysis
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled Masters/PhD student in statistics or biostatistics
- Excellent analytical/problem solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage priorities effectively
- Familiarity with SAS or R programming

Key Role Description
Assists with Lab technical activities related to all of the refinery processes and products including test methodology, equipment purchases, and equipment calibration and repair. Assists in managing daily operations to insure quality of results, efficient management of inventory to maintain continuity of operations, and the storage and handling of samples for regulatory compliance and inspection purposes.

Salary range:
The starting, full-time equivalent annual salary rate is currently $140,169. Appointments are typically for one to three sections per term, up to three terms per year, resulting in total compensation of approximately $8,181 per section at 17% FTE per academic term, as of Summer 2025. This salary rate will increase in subsequent terms in accordance with the terms of the labor contract.

Position description
The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified health science clinical faculty members at the Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor level to teach in the School of Optometry and Vision Science and/or Berkeley Optometry partner off-campus clinics, should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. The pool will remain in place for one calendar year; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
The responsibilities of the health science clinical faculty members include teaching optometric student clinicians in the patient care environment, performing direct patient care when student clinicians are unavailable both on or off the UC Berkeley campus, and/or teaching optometric student clinicians the basics of eye examinations sequence in the pre-clinical environment. They may also perform service to the school and community through education or various outreach programs on or off the UC Berkeley campus.
Appointees will be eligible for advancement through the ranks of the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series, based on performance in teaching, professional activity, scholarly and creative activity, and service.

Over 70,000 patient visits are seen annually within our on campus clinic. About 65 optometry students are graduated annually. Palo Verde College (PVC) is a publicly supported two-year community college serving approximately 7,000 students annually through in-person, online, correspondence, and hybrid modalities. Located in Southeastern California, PVC is designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and is deeply committed to equity, access, and student success.
As part of this cluster hire, Palo Verde College seeks dedicated, equity-minded faculty to provide primary face-to-face instruction for incarcerated students at Ironwood State Prison (a level 2 facility). Additionally, faculty may also teach incarcerated learners across five additional CDCR sites through correspondence and Canvas-based instruction, as assigned.
These positions are full-time, tenure-track faculty roles intentionally designed for the Incarcerated Education Program, reflecting PVC?s long-standing leadership in this space and its commitment to strengthening the Rising Scholars program, which PVC helped initiate and continues to proudly advance.
WHAT FACULTY CAN EXPECT
Faculty hired through this cluster will:
- Have a primary teaching assignment at Ironwood State Prison, delivering face-to-face instruction in a level 2 secure institutional setting.

- Work within CDCR protocols, including clearance requirements, safety procedures, restricted materials, and technology limitations.

NATURE OF THE POSITION
The instructor will teach classes within the approved discipline(s). In addition, the instructor shall be responsible for creating, maintaining and updating curricula relevant to the assigned instructional area. This position may require day, evening, weekend, correspondence and on-line assignments.
