Position description

The Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.



We are also seeking applicants for hourly Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. The TSP instructor's principal responsibility will be overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program of the Nuclear Engineering Department. This will include the following tasks: Designing and proposing capstone projects. Helping match students into suitable projects. Meeting with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period.

We are generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions include laboratory teaching, holding regular office hours, assigning grades, advising students, and preparing course materials and exams.



We are also seeking applicants for Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. TSP instructors will be responsible for overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in the Department Mechanical Engineering. This includes: design and propose capstone projects and help match students into suitable projects. Meet with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period. This pool encompasses engineering science and technology specializations relevant to both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.

Forecast Development and Accuracy:
· Prepare timely forecasts for the department.
· Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.
· Anticipate future headcount requirements based on open Bays and projected business.

TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.
· Utilize Jabil’s Advanced Engineering group to ensure useful support to Jabil South.
· Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.
· Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in field.”
· Drive the concept of an IE being an “Integration Engineer” that ensures everything works smoothly to guarantee efficient and high quality processes that translate into high customer satisfaction and revenues for Jabil.
· Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
· Periodically “get down in the trenches” to rehabilitate troubled workcells or to help during product launch. Foster a “back to basics” mentality during these times. Lead by example; “walk the talk.”
· Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.
· Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Extensive knowledge of Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering philosophies and processes. Proven track record in communication, leadership, business analysis, process development, administration, and change management. Bachelor’s degree preferred with 3-5 years of related experience in the electronics manufacturing industry; 2-3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

JOB SUMMARY
Industrial Engineering Manager will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing; integrated, productions and service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence and cost control within the production site. The Industrial Engineering Manager will adopt as its goals profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Establish and clearly communicate all global and regional Industrial Engineering strategies to the Industrial Engineering Department
· Coach, mentor and train all engineers with the Industrial Engineering Department
· Recruit and retain Industrial Engineering talent within the site
· Report and drive improvement within the site through the monitoring of the key Industrial Engineering metrics
· Develop and maintain the Industrial Engineering succession plan for the site
· Insure the standardization of Jabil processes throughout the site in accordance with the global and regional direction
· Standardize the configuration of the systems used (e.g. SAP, MES, IEDB…)
· Develop and maintain site key process flow charts

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
· Key Requirements:
