Job Overview
We are seeking a Commercial Contracts Counsel to join our growing Energy Storage Systems (ESS) business. This role goes beyond traditional legal supportβit is embedded directly with Sales and Operations to accelerate revenue, streamline deal execution, and strengthen risk management throughout the entire contract lifecycle.
You will serve as a business-oriented lawyer, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales to shape smarter, faster deals, while ensuring commercial and legal risks are managed effectively. By engaging early in the deal cycle and staying engaged post-signature, you will help bridge sales and legal, driving both business growth and contract governance. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in the energy storage and/or PV industries, especially those with a track record of negotiating and/or drafting EPC and System Integration contracts.
Key Responsbilities
Deal Support & Negotiation
- Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex ESS sales contracts (including EPC, Supply, and Tolling agreements).
- Partner with Sales to structure commercially viable, risk-balanced deal terms that accelerate deal closure.
- Actively participate in customer-facing negotiations and internal contract approval processes.
Contract Lifecycle Management
- Serve as contract owner from negotiation through execution, deployment, and closeout.
- Track key milestones, obligations, amendments, and renewals to ensure compliance across teams.
- Conduct post-signature risk assessments and feed learnings into future negotiations.
Project & Post-Commissioning Support
- Advise Project Management on contractual interpretation, issue resolution, and change order management.
- Manage warranty obligations, service-level agreements (SLAs), and other post-installation commitments in collaboration with Service and Operations.
Process & Governance Development
- Build and refine standard templates, negotiation playbooks, and contracting processes for consistency and efficiency.
- Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to align escalation paths, training, and enterprise-wide risk frameworks.
- Support the evolution of contract governance as the function scales from business-embedded to enterprise-integrated.
Preferred Qualifications
- Located in Detroit or Bay Area, or a willingness to relocate (4x - 5x days per week in office)
- J.D. with admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5β8+ years of experience in commercial contracting, preferably in the energy, technology, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Proven ability to act as a business partnerβbalancing commercial goals with legal and risk considerations.

What You Will Do:
Drive Global Talent Acquisition Innovation
- Lead major process improvement initiatives across the global TA function, applying design thinking, lean methodologies, and market standards
- Develop futureβstate TA practices by influencing the adoption of technology, analytics, and process enhancements that increase speed, quality, and scalability while improving the candidate, manager and recruiter experience
Partner Strategically Across the Organization
- Partner with Global TA leadership, TA Managers, HR, and crossβfunctional business partners to understand emerging needs and translate them into actionable strategies
- Serve as a strategic advisor for TA initiatives that support enterprise priorities, including:
Talent attraction and topβofβfunnel optimization
- Consistent and efficient use of TA technology
- Vendor management and organizational procedures
Lead Technology, Reporting, and Analytics Excellence
- Research bestβinβclass TA tools, processes, and metricsβevaluating return on investment and recommending improvements that align with the TA technology roadmap
- Coordinate and troubleshoot Workday, while supporting data and reporting needs across Workday, Phenom People, and Power BI
- Partner with IT and HRIS to prioritize and implement system enhancements
Champion Operational Excellence
- Support training, resource development, and adoption of standard processes across global TA teams.
- Partner with HR PMO to align project prioritization with business goals.
- Identify bottlenecks throughout the hiring funnel using data and analytics, recommending process improvements grounded in external benchmarks and market trends.
- Lead components of onboarding communications and coordinate related system workflows.
Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical proficiency, critical thinking, and operational rigor as well as the following:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/Talent systems, including:
- Workday, Power BI, Phenom People, HireVue, Microsoft Bookings, SharePoint, Textio, First Advantage, and ServiceNow
- Experience using technology to build consistency, efficiencies, and actionable reporting across the hiring lifecycle
- Ability to analyze data to uncover trends, gaps, and opportunitiesβand use those insights to influence partners and inspire change
- Knowledge of external labor market trends, TA benchmarks, candidate behaviors, and recruitment innovations
- Independent decisionβmaking and ownership of highβvisibility, crossβfunctional projects
- Ability to handle ambiguity and adapt to shifting business needs
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate training, guide user adoption, and build trust across global teams

This position has a starting salary range of $92,900.00 to $118,500.00 per year. Actual starting pay is determined by a number of factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual incentive as well as long-term incentives.

The Technology Account Executive is a new-business, hunter-focused position responsible for prospecting, opening doors, and winning new customer relationships. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build something of their own, a book of business created through effort, consistency, and curiosity.
While relationships you bring in will be nurtured long-term, the primary focus is new logo acquisition. You will own your pipeline end-to-end, from first outreach through close, working closely with engineering and services teams to deliver thoughtful, high-impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development (Primary Focus): Proactively prospect, network, and hunt for net-new accounts within assigned markets and verticals. Create opportunities through outbound activity, referrals, and strategic outreach.
- Pipeline Ownership: Build, manage, and grow a healthy sales pipeline. Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline hygiene.
- Consultative Selling: Engage prospects using a discovery-first approach to understand business challenges. Learn SureLockβs solutions and guide customers toward outcomes that solve real problems.
- Customer Experience Leadership: Own the customer journey from first conversation through close. Ensure a professional, transparent, and trust-based experience throughout the sales process.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner with engineering, services, and leadership to design strong solutions and execute effectively. Coordinate internal resources to support successful deal outcomes.
- Relationship Building: Develop long-term customer relationships with accounts you bring into SureLock. Create repeatable value and future growth opportunities.

- Experience: Bachelorβs degree or equivalent professional experience. Technology sales experience is a plus but not required. Compensation will align with experience.
