Mechanical Engineering Technician
Job Description
What You'll Do
- Perform hands-on fabrication and welding (MIG, TIG, ARC) of steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components; utilize fabrication equipment such as bandsaws, lathes, drill presses, plasma cutters, and hydraulic press brakes to build, finish, and paint racks, fixtures, and production tooling
- Design, CAD & Prototyping: Utilize 3D CAD/CAM software (Catia V5/6, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam) and 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS) to review technical drawings, validate mechanical fixtures, and execute rapid prototyping while providing feedback on manufacturability and ergonomics
- Interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) breakdowns to coordinate material ordering, manage raw material inventory and scrap control, and execute the mechanical assembly of custom dollies, carts, and racks ensuring structural integrity and quality fit
- Provide real-time support with factory systems (WARP, MFS, MOS) to ensure accuracy in material flow routing, labeling, and transaction history, while validating system integrity during production trials. Support PC-Change with cutover management
- Process Optimization & Lean Implementation: Apply lean manufacturing practices (5S, JIT, Kanban) to configure lineside setups and improve workflow efficiency; support PC-Change cutover management and prepare diagrams to illustrate routing, layouts, and equipment utilization
- Proficiently operate forklifts, scissor lifts, EPJs, and flatbeds to support material handling and facility updates, while maintaining strict adherence to safety requirements during all machining, welding, and operational activities
- Provide support to Engineering / Operations / Inventory control / Production / Quality / Logistics / NPI in all formats dependent on business need and maturity
What You'll Bring
- Technical certificate or welding/fabrication training preferred
- 2+ years of fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or shop environment
- Proficiency with MIG/TIG welding and familiarity with fabrication equipment such as drill presses, grinders, and saws
- Ability to read technical drawings, follow BOMs, and adhere to quality specifications
- Strong attention to detail and safety in execution of fabrication work
- Ability to manage time effectively and complete multiple jobs in parallel
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working closely with engineering and production teams
