The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach Electrical Engineering or Computer Science courses should an opening arise. These are not tenure-track positions - selected candidates will hold the title of Lecturer. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Due to budget restrictions, no funding is available for visa or relocation expenses.

In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

The department seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy in higher education through their teaching. The minimum qualification required to be considered an applicant for the position is a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree). Must be met by the time of application.

The following additional qualifications are required by the start date of the job. Advanced degree or four years teaching and/or industry experience.

Experience in teaching courses in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, particularly courses with 200+ students. Experience managing large course staff.

Job Description

Project Description: Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works independently. Typically reports to a manager. Image and deploy laptop and workstation systems for the Camp Grayling post. Occasional imaging and deployment/installation of equipment at other locations throughout the state may be required. Maintain and repair all program resources for Camp grayling Distance Learning Program (DLP). Perform system patching, updates, refresh of operating system image. Installation of all peripherals, projectors, printers, camera's, sound equipment and recording devices. Configuring, installation, and support of all video conferencing systems. Configuring and maintenance of bridge system for conferencing. Manage and coordinate calendars and scheduling tools for Camp Grayling DLC. Conduct inventory and document hand receipts for all incoming and outgoing equipment. Coordinate staff support of all equipment for end users. Maintain data to support metric requirements provided to National Guard Bureau program management. Schedule and coordinate all audio and video conferences with owned locations and distant locations throughout the world. Prepare rooms for scheduled video or audio conferences. Coordinate issuance and return of loaned endpoints, video and audio equipment, and ensure equipment is properly set-up and taken down in support of conference requirements as needed. Ensure classified video conferencing is conducted in appropriate areas and verify class level of all participants prior to connecting system. Ensure classified and un-classified conferences are tested prior to event date. Monitor all classified transmissions to ensure integrity of communication.

Skills Required:

• Troubleshooting of computer systems, networking/connectivity, audio visual equipment.
• Proficient use of Microsoft office systems.
• Working knowledge of SharePoint, documentation policies, and inventory management.

Experience Required: Daily employee will make decisions determining most critical response needs from received requests. Employee will make decisions about scheduling of resources based on level of need and resources available. Software or hardware changes made to equipment in support of program or mission requirements. Occasional amount of lifting and bending is required, climbing ladders, working in small or high areas, use of tools typically associated with running cable, testing systems, or repairing computer or network equipment. Employee should be able to lift 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance to facilitate moving or installing equipment. All of these tasks represent 75% of an average workday. 3-5 years experience is required.

Education Required: High school graduate, college is not necessary but post HS training in computers is preferred. A+ certification, NW+ certification, preferred, Security+ required. US Secret clearance is required, applicants not eligible for a secret clearance are not eligible to work in this environment.

Education Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science

Qualifications

• Strong experience with SLAM, Structure from Motion (SfM) and camera pose estimation
• Strong experience with 3D Gaussian Splatting and surface reconstruction
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing computer vision algorithms (segmentation, object detection, classification, tracking)
• Familiarity with deep learning models and their deployment
• Solid understanding of multi-view geometry
• Proficiency in OpenCV, and either PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Proficiency with modern graphics libraries such as OpenGL, Metal, Vulkan, DirectX
• Experience working with 3D point clouds, mesh generation, and libraries such as Open3D, Trimesh, or PCL
• Familiarity with 3D reconstruction pipelines (e.g., COLMAP, NerfStudio, Photogrammetry tools)
• Experience working with multi-modal sensors: GPS, LiDAR, stereo/depth cameras, IMUs
• Proficient in path planning algorithms (both global and local)
• Strong knowledge of coordinate frames, and camera calibration
