Position Purpose:
The Medical Surgical (Med Surg) Oncology unit at Mount Carmel East is 28 beds. The Registered Nurse would expect to see a mixture of oncology and hospice patients while also serving the med surg population. Our certified RNs administer IV and PO chemotherapy and take care of patients who are getting outpatient cancer treatment but need to be hospitalized between their treatments.
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Staff Registered Nurse, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Medical Assistant’s may have duties in one or more of the following areas:
Medical Assistant
- Demonstrates ability to recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed.

Referral Liaison
- Meets with patients both in person and by phone and is the point person in their coordination of care.
- Works closely with insurance companies and makes referrals according to their guidelines and policies.
- Coordinates referrals with other provider’s offices in a timely manner.
- Implements and follows a tracking system for all referrals.
- Processes requests for physical forms/immunization forms for parents, daycares, and schools as time allows.
Lab
- Performs laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), and maintains records of tests performed and results received.
- Reports results and pertinent information to patient and health care team members.
- Complies with regulatory agencies (i.e. CLIA, COLA, OSHA in operation of lab).
- Responsible for quality control and proficiency testing appropriate for the testing performed ensuring that levels are maintained throughout the entire testing procedure from the initial quality control, throughout testing, and reporting of test results.
- Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever tests deviate from established performance specifications.

POSITION PURPOSE
Provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. 1. Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) acts as part of the clinical operations team and is responsible for providing direct patient care in ChenMed/Jencare medical centers, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and home settings depending on the nature of the assignment or providing assessments to members in SNF and home settings.

Summary Description
Under general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs diagnostic exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment including CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology and Cardiology.
- Verifies patient identity and reviews patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure. Interviews patient to obtain, verify or update medical history and assesses risk factors such as medications, pregnancy and/or psychological indicators.
- Explains procedure to patient, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up.
- Sets up equipment and acquires appropriate images as per script.
- Reviews images, makes initial observations, documents exceptions from established protocols and communicates data to radiologist.
- Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies as appropriate.
- Provides physician-prescribed post care instructions to patients.
- Participates in process improvement activities within radiology practice including but not limited to quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis and patient satisfaction.
- Provides imaging education to residents, student technologists and new employees.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology (R).
2. Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) within 6 months of hire for employees working in adult cardiology setting or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 1 year of hire for employees working in pediatric cardiology setting
