What you will Do:
Analyze records for completeness and patient history.
Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for patient care.
Greet, identify patient and prepare patient for exam while protecting patient’s privacy.
Review/document current medication and allergies
Take vital signs, obtain chief complaints, history, and documents.
Assist provider with routine procedures and provide patient care as directed by provider (i.e., immunizations, spirometry, injections, EKG, nebulizer, ear washing, wart removal)
Assist providers with patient care via phone, mail and/or fax.
Communicate effectively between provider and patient.
Hours/Schedule:
64 hours biweekly (0.8 FTE)
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
LPN license or Medical Assistant Diploma

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Provides indirect and direct patient care activities and performs clerical duties under direct supervision of the provider/ licensed nurse.
Supports and maintains University Health's policies, protocols, values and guest relations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED is required.
Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for medical assistants is required.
National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred.
Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
One-year experience in a clinic, doctor's office or ambulatory setting is desirable, but not required.

Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff and UMA bylaws. Providers practicing in an acute care environment must obtain AHA ACLS certification or advanced specialty equivalent as defined by the UMA Credentials Committee within 90 days of hire. Prescriptive authority is required. A valid DEA number must be obtained within 90days of hire.
